What exactly do you think Blake and Luc’s views were when they took over?
I think there was a call to add speed and youth into the lineup. I think they want LA on par with some more speedy teams. I think they are in the beginning of retooling this team and getting younger. Their core had career years. The team won the Jennings. Kovy was signed to inject speed and scoring. This year started with a resounding thud. They are going to have to make adjustments probably faster than they had hoped. If out by the deadline (certain) they will try to move players. If they don’t and say this is the team going forward, by all means put them on blast. So many act like the business of hockey isn’t a fluid undertaking.

What’s worse, a protracted losing season and out of touch with reality expectations from management? Or a tank and rapid tear down?

I’m not so naive to think that Blake is the guy to pull off a rapid rebuild, so it may take this season to play out in order to bring in a new GM. Hopefully whoever the GM is,they has the support of ownership for a rebuild, because all chances for improvement starts and stops with Philip Anschutz.

Maybe Dean Lombardi comes back and this time gets rid of a bunch of players because he learned his lessons about grittiness and bad trades / contracts.

My friend got that deal 8-9 years ago when season tickets were $11 a seat and he plays $14 a seat this season. Even he's losing money on tickets when he sells them.

These seats have gone up a $1 every year since probably 2011. Think I'm in at $18 a game this season. Have had them since they were first offered.

Problem is I manage three tickets of my own with two at the low price point but one at $38 or something like that. The $38 is crushing me, obviously.

Still, I've been at a wash overall for the last four seasons prior to this one along with the playoffs from 2012-14. Gone to nearly every game. No tears shed for this guy: just wish I got out before this season but that is the risk.

I'm more upset about how boring they are than the money. First time in my long STHer history that I don't want to go to the games. While most of that blame is laid at the Kings on-ice product, this has really led to me taking a look at how much I care about the NHL in general.

I bought Center Ice for years but eventually dropped that. Would still watch the Ducks but I mostly stopped doing that altogether last season. Now I'm at the point where I don't care as much about missing games in person and I will do a lot of fast forwarding of DVR'd games.

I would never want to miss a game in-person because you never knew what you might miss. With a bad team in the current NHL, you aren't going to miss a damn thing that will make you upset to miss live v. just catching a highlight.

The one thing going to games now, I am very relaxed, low expectations, blood pressure at optimal levels. I do give tickets to friends and other family free of charge more.

I will go tonight, since Toronto is a pretty up and down team. But won't go out of my way to see, Wild, Hurricanes, Panthers, Senators, Flames, Stars, Yotes, Blues.
Hawks suck as bad as we do but I think the games will always be kind of fun, if simply looking out on the ice and remember yesteryear.. :-)

Not to change your mind, but Carolina is a fun team to watch with Aho, Svechkinov etc

Lots of those teams are. I like Florida's Roster, Dallas has one of the best lines in the game, and Arizona has a plethora of young talent.

Wild vs Kings though....god those game are hard to get jacked for

So many games on weekdays. I live in Long Beach. Work in Mission Viejo. Lots of driving.

Just not putting out a product that is worth all the hassle anymore. Toss in off-site lots shrinking and parking costs going up...what's the point?

The game has lost so much of the passion and intensity that made it different than other sports. It's now the NBA on ice but without personalities.

Canes are fast and very fun team to watch, averaging 42 Shots on goal per game. I usually watch their games, love Aho and the way that whole line moves and Svechkinov. And JDub is really doing a great job with the C. He generally puts a pound of sweat in most shifts. And the post game celebration he came up just one more way he's making it fun for them, esp the young guys.
Panthers have some young guns and since Bobby Lou came back, they are playing much better. It's amazing how much they miss him in the room, they really looked lost without him. I love Barkov, he's a beast.

Barkov = young Kopitar
ekblad = Doughty light
Yandle = Mitchell (old vet on D)

Not sure who Bjudgstad, Huberdeau, Trochek and Hoffman would relate too..Would like them to be Carter, Richards, Penner and Williams haha

I wonder if we have lost some of the passion as well after getting to witness Cup runs after so so many years , started watching hockey in 62 and the kings in 73 and still are happy I got to see both runs in person , personally don’t even hate on ducks , sharks ec fans and I imagine if I was a multi millionaire 20/30 something player with 2 rings I might not play that way either , maybe not consciously but you know

The stench of death is very difficult to ignore...

I don't think you can play the resident pessimist card anymore though, there's nothing left here but cynical voices. You can claim originality, but why bother, its all pointless anyway.

I updated your avatar for you to reflect this, be aware, I usually charge for such advanced image editing.

I definitely have lost some of my passion for the team after so many years and so many games. Seeing a championship team v. this current bullshit makes it easy to pass on games now as well.

Winning home games had helped me get over how much I hate the new NHL but this current team's pathetic display doesn't allow me to ignore how much the game has changed for the worse from a paying customer perspective.

There is very little bad blood. Chance of nastiness--even against a "bitter rival"--is seemingly zero. You could have a garbage team in the past but, bad or not, this was still hockey and these guys played a certain way. Doesn't matter if you are in dead last: you aren't running our best players or our goalie. That dead last team would still have guys on the 4th line that went out to really throw the body and add an element of danger that is gone from today's game.

Now when you're bad, you know that your team is going to lose and look like bitches while it happens. It's garbage.

"Progress!" Sure. You can have it. Still no denying the most amped the crowd gets is when the rough stuff is happening. Goals and fights/scrums. Those are the two biggest crowd pleasers. They've done away with the latter so all we have now is the former: when your team is a f***ing travesty and last in the league in goals for, you have nothing to cheer for except the odd goal when you are already losing and maybe some nice saves to keep you from going down by three goals.

Huberdeau = Williams, Bjugstad = Stoll, Trochek = Carter, Hoffman = Gaborik?

All of those other guys are pretty irrelevant because there's pretty much zero physical presence at forward haha. Maybe late-stage Richards = Brouwer. Penner = Mamin?

With all that's happening this season, I really hope Blake sticks to his guns and doesn't get desperate. Like Sakic with Duchene, set a good price early on players and stick to it. Someone will get desperate
