Has anyone heard anything about Fantenberg? He's a UFA that can play on the right side signed to a cheap contract. Does he get re-signed? Traded? I can see a team wanting him for depth on a playoff run

Fantenberg should be re-signed , he is a good cheap 5/6th guy that can fill in for 2 years, helps fill a void with a Martinez trade next TDL and until we are off the hook with Dions's contract. By then we should have a few young D prospects almost NHL ready and some cap room to add a UFA to fill in some holes.

I agree, however depends what sort of contract he is looking for. If a deal to re-sign is not there then move him for whatever you can get...even a 2020 5th

A lot of speculation hints that the Kings will make a couple trades before the deadline.

curious to see how Blake will handle Quick, Carter, Phaneuf, and Martinez this summer
needs some thinking outside of the box to get good deals done, his squared head might not allow it though

most likely move Hagelin, Lewis, Clifford type players by the deadline

It would not surprise me at all to see Martinez moved in the Hagelin deal. Washington's core is primed for at least 2 more Cup runs with Ovechkin in his prime and before Backstrom becomes a UFA. They meed a middle six forward and an upgrade to Orpik on defense. They are in salary cap hell so we can retain on both (Hagelin drops off this year) and maybe get a first rounder in return.

THey would need to send $$ back to LA.

One full season, and 114 total games out of Deadmarsh. It's still weird that that's all he played here. From a memorable moment to games played ratio, is he #1 in Kings history? Forbort has played 232 games with the Kings. Twice as many. Iafallo has already played 134. Deadmarsh was here for the blink of an eye. It's a shame.

Goes to show you the quality of the player when he can leave that kind of impression in such a short stint. I can’t imagine them knocking out Detroit (who won the Cup a year later) and pushing the eventual Cup champions to 7 games without Deadmarsh.

Aaron Miller also turned out to be a rock solid presence as well. It’s just a shame none of those future assets they picked up resulted into anything that would help the Kings, on top of Deadmarsh’s career being cut short.

In the post-Gretzky era, that short lived time Deadmarsh was here was the best Kings teams we would witness until 2012.

conditional 6th throw in is the best

Yep, rather have the condtional pick than Jaskin.

The conditions could be based on playoff performance and/or how far the Caps progress or if they resign him in the off-season.

I'm fine with the return. More picks in the draft arsenal.

So now what at forward?

Iaffalo-Kopitar-Brown
Leipsic-Carter-Toffoli
Kempe-Amadio-Kovy
Clifford-Lewis-Wagner

Kings trade Muzzin, Thompson and Hagelin and still look old.

Gotta start somewhere. Are you saying they should not have made this deal or what is the complaint here?

There's no outside the box thought that's going to rid the Kings of Phaneuf. He's just a stand in for Gaborik's contract anyway. If you're trading him, you're taking back a contract as bad, if not worse, because he isn't going to be on IR all year to help Ottawa reach the cap floor. Even Arizona wouldn't take him, since he would still be playing.

Martinez is the easiest to move. Quick and Carter are more difficult, but probably not as improbable as Phaneuf.

I think if LA truly wanted to move Quick he would be very easy to move

Good enough trade in my opinion. Was expecting a 4th but a 3rd works too. Honestly barely even noticed him while he was with the Kings. Did he even PK with them?
