I keep reading posts suggesting Walman is good at running the powerplay. Have you ever actually watched him play, because he was nothing more than a trigger on the Shark's PP?

To be fair that would be his exact role on the Oilers PP too if they gave him some looks. Our first unit runs entirely through McDavid and Draisaitl, and the 2nd unit is essentially a volume point shot unit.

I hope you see it differently after watching Walman today.

I saw a weak right side and skinner in net with Pickard on the bench. I saw we needed 5 goals to win. I saw we almost blew that.

Walman did play great though. Never said he was a bad player. Said he was left side.

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of what the Oilers and specifically Nurse needs in a partner. The team didn’t need a Ceci replacement, they needed a puck mover.

Realistically, they needed both. Walman is a massive upgrade at LD, but the team also badly needed to improve the right side.

We are set on the left side though. It's looking like we'd want Walman in the top 4 so either Nurse, Walman or Ekholm needs to be on the right side. Also probably we'll keep Ekholm-Bouchard as a pairing. That leaves Nurse-Walman.
