Nashville should’ve stayed the course and kept him instead of signing Stamkos and Marchessault. Not offering him what Van ended up giving in a higher tax province is ridiculous. Barry Trotz is in over his head and should’ve never became gm. Congratulations to Vancouver for having competent management after almost a decade of Benning idiocy. Now it’s Nashvilles turn and it’s not looking pretty unless they properly commit to a rebuild.

Ya I notice that a lot in games … I’m always curious what they consider a hit… I’ve seen many many games where I literally see a player do 2 decent size hits in a shift and it doesn’t get counted for some reason. I’m in a hockey pool that includes hits so I notice these things during games lol

Technically, a hit is registered if the result of the body contact is the puck carrier losing possession of the puck.

I would be curious of difference, if there is, of home and away.
There is a literal definition for what is considered a hit. I know you seem to think Home teams can be biased but that is just not possible anymore.

I can't say too much more but NHL teams can't be biased any more.

42 point pace contradicts this, but doesn’t this mean the other team has the puck a lot when he’s on the ice?

Not really. He has a 53% CF% at 5v5. But the Canucks aren’t much of a possession team unless Hughes is on the ice, because the rest of the defense struggles to move the puck. So there’s a lot of back and forth possession. Tocchet also likes to dump and chase so Sherwood’s been a big factor on the forecheck.

Literally becoming my fave player on the team. Tried to get a jersey during the season tix discount meet, and none were made or avail. Seeing him wreak havoc on the canucks last yr in the playoffs, he was my one real want that was reachable. I'm so glad they signed him to a 2 yr deal. At this rate, he is going to get paid in 2yrs

He's played so well that he moved up to line 2 with Pettersson and Debrusk and he was excellent there for its short duration.

He's quick and aggressive - not just with the hits but also with the puck. He's got a rocket of a shot that he really puts everything into.

The hits are clean and within the play - a lot of finish your check hits just after the puck leaves.

He's been impressive but we'll see if this is physically sustainable for him. It's got to take a toll but he seems to relish the role - I don't think he'll stop until he's broken down.

Yeah but up until last year that was true, right?

I think the league came up with a uniform criteria last season but up until then there were huge discrepancies from team to team.

The guy is one of the most important players for the Canucks this year. All ES points, too. As others have touched on, on pace for 42 ES points and 500 hits for 1.5m a year is insane value.
