I mean, the entire group at the top is different...except for Valerie. But ok.

Hilferty is busy sucking off the Advisors and talking about how he undersands nothing and wants to build in the spirit of the 70s. So he's definitely "learning" from them while sniffing their jocks. Briere was already here. Flahr was already here. Jones was hired because he thinks exactly like everyone else here. Tortorella was already here, is dumber than a rock, and is being given more power despite being the opposite of what any team in 2023 needs to succeed.

Nothing is changed. At all.

I think they're pushing Tortorella so much in this triumvirate because they think he's a "Philly guy" which is partially true, but I don't know if they understand that he's kind of a giant douche and a loudmouth.

Those are "symptoms" of a Philly guy, sure....but he takes it too far and becomes a whole different disease.

Brycer Harper is the perfect temperature of douche you need to be a great Philly guy.

Perhaps they're pitching this Triumvirate because they want a personality to appeal to everyone...Briere is the nice quiet guy, Tortorella is the douche loud mouth monster, and Jonesy is the affable in-between.

The only thing that hasn't changed is more statements from you that have no basis in reality. We are on the cusp of an enormously important summer that will answer a lot of questions. One would think we'd wait and see what happens and reserve judgement instead of spouting off statements that you can in no way prove as fact.

It absolutely is. The question is, will it be a new era that results in yet another epic failure, or does it succeed? This summer will give us a pretty good idea of whether we're f***ed, or whether we start to fix this mess.

Alright, I've constantly been right about this kind of thing for years. I'll be proven right again.

If my statements have no basis in reality how come I'm correct so often?

One might ask you...why SHOULD we assume things will be different?

Briere WANTED and got Deslaurier.
Then Torts played him all he could.
Torts has openly said he dislikes skill and doesn't communicate
Jones loves guys like Risto.
Hilf has said he knows nothing, but loves the 70's Flyers. You really believe he isn’t talking to all the old guys?
Nothing changed yet with scouting, same people.
Or development
Or AHL group

So there IS reasons to believe nothing will change.

Correct. More reasons to believe there wont be change at this point. They have to show us something first.

Lol...well, the sad fact with the Flyers is if you predict we will not win anything you'll be right. Doesn't exactly mean you're Nostradamus here.

My point is just that Hilferty has no track record in his role, Briere has no track record in his, and Jones has no track record in his. So we're going off of nothing and making judgments off no track record. When CF was hired, I knew we were f***ed because he had a record of mediocrity preceeding him.

We can point to the individuals who hired Briere and Jones as a non-objective but still strong indicator of their preferences on personnel.

I wonder if they had Jones wear a Flyer jersey when the alumni took him from behind.

Hilferty being an ignoramus empowers the people who need to be disempowered, it lets them all influence him. Briere does have a track record. He's been here. He's responsible for Deslauriers. He was also loved by the Flyers, which is the most damning thing possible at this point. Jones has 20 years on air spouting a bunch of garbage beliefs, he adores Deslauriers, Hagg, and Ristolainen. Tortorella doesn't want to add skill, he wants to add grinders.

Why exactly should I believe that these regressive guys strapped onto an otherwise completely unchanged and broken machine will make the machine work?

Just imagine a different scenario.....

Hilferty come in
All advisory roles are eliminated
Fletcher, Flahr, Lombardi, Homer are all let go
Briere is named Pres
Tulsky named GM
Torts is let go as well as other coaches so Tulsky can name his own coach
New coach build his couching group
Together, they revamp the scouting dept including pro scouting.
They also overhaul the AHL coaching group that thinks like the 70's era.

Now THAT would signify that things are going to be different. A new era where the new guys get to build the new era Flyers without have the old guard anywhere in sight. Danny as Pres makes sense since he did the business side learning and by all accounts is looked in a positive way by fans.

People who point at teams like Edmonton not winning a cup with multiple high draft picks and then walking away saying high draft picks =/= success don't know the difference between "necessary" and "sufficient" and would fail a logic 101 class.
However, when there are a number of exceptions, "necessary" doesn't apply.
Does it help to have a franchise player or two? Sure. Are they easier to find at the top of the draft? Sure.
Do they exist elsewhere in the draft? Ask Bergeron, Marchand, Giroux, etc.
Can you trade for one? Ask Eichel.
Does tanking guarantee you a top pick with the lottery? Ask Sakic.

Crassus was the Musk of Rome.
