Seravalli believes Torts will absolutely have say on what free agents are signed. I'm now expecting a 4 year deal for Foligno at 12:01 on July 1st lol

Pretty sure he hates Torts so we got that going for us.Seravallis believes Torts will absolutely have say on what free agents are signed. I'm now expecting a 4 year deal for Foligno at 12:01 on July 1st lol
Hilferty/Camillo put the team in Torts' hands. He's a coach who no one wanted, but rather than look for someone good, they are running with ChusterChuck's pick. Then they made sure the new GM would keep him which is unusual - to saddle a new GM with a leftover coach. Finally, after a piddling search, in which qualified candidates told them the above hires were a fait accompli, they hired a broadcaster with no credentials and who no other team would have considered for job. No wonder we're cynical.Seravallis believes Torts will absolutely have say on what free agents are signed. I'm now expecting a 4 year deal for Foligno at 12:01 on July 1st lol
100% accuracy. of all the things i blame Torts for. that isnt one.You have to give credit to Torts though. He’s an opportunist. The same way you have to give credit to AV. They knew this organization was full of buffoons who they’d be able to placate and manipulate and take advantage of to get paid. Torts’ timing was just better allowing him to gain more power. The end product is just as bad. But there was at least the semblance of a competitive roster on paper when AV was here.
If you can’t be smart, use words that make you sound smart I guess.Really hope they stop using the word triumvirate
Look at the construct of the top 4/5 teams remaining and see how Edmonton has done... they had four 1st overalls in six years and haven't past the semis.
Tanking hard does not always mean success.
And the Leafs had Matthews. And Marner. And Tavares. And Nylander. And Rielly. And Dubas.
And moron Dave Hakstol has a second-year expansion team with no names a game away from the conference final.

Yeah, I don't blame Torts for taking $16,000,000 from a bunch of idiots.Less about Tort's being an opportunist, and more about the Flyers being the only team that called him. I don't recall reading that any other team had any consideration for hiring him.

I dunno man, Torts doesn't need the money so I don't think he's doing it for the money. He's doing it to secure his spot in the HHoF.Yeah, I don't blame Torts for taking $16,000,000 from a bunch of idiots.
I hope he does, it would be kinda stupid for a GM to sign a FA that his HC doesn't want.Seravalli believes Torts will absolutely have say on what free agents are signed. I'm now expecting a 4 year deal for Foligno at 12:01 on July 1st lol

It's unlikely they sign any FA to a 4 year deal.
They've attacked everything, because everything has been bad, the Ellis trade people liked, it turned out bad for obvious reasons, everyone disliked tda trade, we've been right on that front, we said Torts wouldn't play the kids unless injuries occurred, that's the reason they played, we also hated the trade for risto which even you agreed was a bad move, then they doubled down and resigned him, giving sanhiem that contract was a bad move that was criticized because we could have gotten more for him at the deadline to help with the rebuilding process, again they failed to do so, chuckles even admitted to only making a few calls during the trade deadline, which was rightfully attacked, so what decision shouldn't have been attacked? What Is the reason for hope and for fans to forget they're complaints have fallen on deaf ears for a decade +When you attack everything, your credibility is lost.
Shall we go through the pages swearing Fletcher was fleeced by Zito?
For 28 game of Giroux headed to FA, Flyers got a 23 year old forward who scored 27 goals, a 3rd in this year's draft and a 1st next year.
I doubt they could have done better.
Did that make Fletcher a genius, nah. But he wasn't taken to the cleaner's either.
There is something called "nuance." Many of their mistakes were driven by bad strategy, trying to win now, worked in 2019 b/c they still had a core of players in their peak years, but that window was closing. When it closed, they refused to recognize it.
Do I think Fletcher f---ked up? Sure. Do I think he was pressured into bad moves by the FO refusing to accept reality? Sure.
I don't get the anomisity toward Torts. Like I said, look what they do, not what they say (he fires off the cuff, that's his MO).
By the end of the year, starting 9 included Frost, Tippett, Farabee, Cates and York. He may have pushed them hard, but he played them.
Frost finished the season scoring at a 2C pace, so much for "suppressing" his offense.
I think Torts would have started Foerster and kept Ersson, but they were right to send them to LHV, b/c the team didn't need to finish any stronger.
Next year those two plus Desnoyers, Zamula and Attard are likely to be on the team, Lycksell will get a shot at winning a job.
The problem isn't playing young talent, it's having enough NHL ready talent to play.
They liked Briere period, He has a similar background to Sakic and Yzerman, former star player who was groomed for a few years, then given the keys to the kingdom. Doesn't mean he'll work out, but it's obvious he is the key actor, if he really didn't want Torts around, something would have been worked out.
Torts plays kids, he's done that at every stop - what he doesn't do is play all the kids, they have to earn PT. He doesn't coddle them, but he doesn't defer to veterans either, he benched almost every veteran on this team at one point or another.
