I don't necessarily think so, if Flyers land a Giroux or like how they landed Richard's and Carter in the same year they could be a contending team.

I don't think the Flyer amateur scouting has been awful, middle of the road.
The pro scouting on the other hand . . .
Development has improved, few players who excelled D+1, D+2, SHL, etc. suddenly bombed when they came here. A number have improved.

But "OK" isn't OK. Briere is looking to make changes, which is good. They finally fixed their training/medical group, which was so bad Torts commented on it almost immediately. They do need someone to clear out the deadwood which has hung around b/c the Flyers are a "family." While treating employees well is good policy, coddling underachievers is bad policy. If you want job security, professional sports is probably not the best career choice.

Development has not improved.

Additionally, you always argued there was no problem and scoffed whenever we said it could be improved. Apparently that was incorrect?

I think the amateur scouting has been pretty good. I don’t think the GM has always followed his scouts.

Tremendous for Zito. I'm a Tkachuk fan. Great move by him.

I wonder how many extolling his virtues would have been happy with a Paul Maurice coaching hire. Or trading a first for Chiarot. Or admitting he got fleeced by Chuck.

Look at the construct of the top 4/5 teams remaining and see how Edmonton has done... they had four 1st overalls in six years and haven't past the semis.

Tanking hard does not always mean success.

And the Leafs had Matthews. And Marner. And Tavares. And Nylander. And Rielly. And Dubas.

And moron Dave Hakstol has a second-year expansion team with no names a game away from the conference final.

Seravalli says Torts is the second most powerful coach in the league behind Sullivan.

We're doomed unless Briere can get rid of him somehow.

"Watch the last handful of games of the season. He was upstairs in the press box, not on the bench, advising Danny Briere on what was happening in real time. I don't know why you would need to that by the way, it makes no sense, I mean what is he possibly telling him in the moment that he couldn't tell him on video."
