It will be a happy day, but Reb. He’s 100% sticking around in a FO or advisor role.

This sack of shit bastard is going to make sure old Flyer ways live on.

I'll continue to cheer for and enjoy their failure.

What teams left could you say have a real good D core , Dallas only ?

The thing that pisses me off the most , I want to return to see the Eagles in their prime, but have close to zero interest in flying half way across the continent to see this trash can team.

Jones is on TSN....asked what the 7 remaining teams have that the Flyers will strive for.

Answer: they all have good bluelines. In order to win you need that and that's the most important thing.
Analytics guy!

These guys are such simpletons. Yes you need a good blueline, but forwards on average make a bigger impact on games. Every team left with the exception of Seattle and Carolina have multiple All-Star level forwards. And those teams are incredibly deep throughout. And Carolina is missing an entire top 6 line due to injury.

Hell Florida's blueline is mostly made up of waiver claims and secondary trades. Ekblad was a #1 pick but I'm sure they'd rather have Draisaitl. A true #1 masks a lot of holes, but I think avoiding weak links is the key to a good blueline. Good thing the new President is a big fan of a guy that hasn't played in a single playoff game in his 10 year NHL career!

And if I am mistaken, there is no dman ranked in tbe top 10.

Checks out
A defenseman goes top 10 every year. I will be furious if they draft a defenseman 7th overall. That would be such a cop out. Could get a similar player in the 20s.

On average, forwards make a bigger impact?
They score more, but that's not necessarily a bigger impact.
A top pair D-man plays 25+ minutes a night in the playoffs.
Problem is it's easier to measure points/goals scored than goals prevented.

Take a team with the 3rd worst offense in the NHL over the last 2 years (4th worst in this year of the great spiritual awakening). Then add a coach who openly admits he's clueless in scheming offense and wants a defenseman, possibly at 7th overall in a draft where no defenseman would be BPA. Then add a dull as dishwater President of Hockey Operations who pines for the Flyers to have a better blue line, while believing players in the Ristolainen mold are vital. Then dump a gloppy heaping of an AGM/VP, running the draft, who openly picks for fit.

"Doomed" doesn't even begin to describe this organization. Jones probably thinks Tippett and Cates are the core forwards. Said as much on the broadcasts. Who needs elite forwards?

Thankfully, this means we'll be in the mix for Top 5 picks over the next 5 years.

Their CEO wants to build towards their pretend version of the 1970s.

We had the third worst offense last year b/c JVR and Hayes have declined and were bad fits, Atkinson and Couts were hurt, Farabee was never 100%, and they made a deliberate decision to keep Foerster in the AHL the second half of the season (not that they'd tank, but they might just not do everything possible to win games).

I don't think they'll have a great offense next year, but they will have more talent. Foerster, Desnoyers, maybe Brink, Zamula and Attard on defense. A prospect or two from trades who are close to the NHL.

It would be nice to pick up a top offensive talent in the draft, but that player won't be in Philly for at least a year and maybe two (as we've seen with Gauthier, there's no urgency to rush players to Philly, again, they're not tanking, but . . . ). I don't see them pushing to add a lot of offense next year (no big money FAs, no rushing kids, and so on).

They weren't keeping Foerster down to tank or stay bad, they did it because they hate playing youth.

The players you listed, at full strength, do not make this team good offensively.

Their coach with an idiotic level of roster control wants to subtract even more talent to add 10 goal PK specialists. That's what he said he wants.

Oh but we àre are going to be left in such s good place...full of young prospects who learned to play tbe right way!
I look at Florida:

Cousins just scored the series winner with huge help from Gudas.

That's what we will be producing for other clubs essentially (again)...

This simply isn’t true. They sent him back down because they wanted him to be part of a playoff push and get experience in the playoffs. Whether you agree with that or not is irrelevant, but it’s not because they hate playing youth or hate talent. Doesn’t matter how many times you repeat yourself, you still can’t make it a fact.

Tortorella had callups available and he played a forward short or moved dmen to forward instead.

Tortorella said he doesn't want skilled players, he wants PK specialists.

Their actions are the facts.

Again, THEY made that choice so Foerster could be part of the playoff push. This is what they said, this is what they did, that was the action, and that is fact.
