So teams arent really interested in Boeser and Palmeri + Rantanen both could potentially stay with their teams. Theres a scenario here where Rakell is the only top-6 player available on the whole market

That's fine and all but if push comes to shove and it's deadline time and he still hasn't made a deal...I'd probably settle for a 2 firsts on the table type offer.

Keeping Rakell past the deadline because nobody met his price is kinda insane unless all of the Rakell offers he's getting are huge lowballs.

Rakell is turning 32 and his coach could turn back into a pumpkin next season. Not a huge fan of holding onto him if there's big value on the table. And two firsts is big value.

That would be unacceptable. Whether you are in the camp that wants them to strip it down to their undies and trade guys like Rakell and Karlsson, or whether you want them to trade the rentals and depth pieces for future assets to give the prospects a chance, either way they have to keep going here.

We traded two guys with term, which was unexpected only because of the two guys moved, but we brought back two guys with term too. And we got OLDER yet again.

No, this is a sellers' market and Dubas is a seller. We can debate all day and through tomorrow afternoon about who should go and who should stay, but somebody else has to go. Hopefully, multiple players.

They already have 1sts, what they want to do is retool and come back and compete as fast as possible.

That equates to NHL ready players.

This sorta thing does seem cyclic too where GMs will go crazy one deadline and overpay for guys and then for a few years after that the deadline will get calmer as GMs see that most of those moves didn't pan out the way they hoped.

You have to identify those kinds of windows and maximize your selling when they're open.

Firsts can be turned into NHL ready players via trade.

Dubas has even been open about acquiring draft capital so that he can use those picks to be in on young NHL ready players when they become available.

That's why I don't think moving Rakell for multiple high round picks is a bad thing.

If two 1sts are on the table, I’m making that trade at 2pm tomorrow. But as this market shakes out, a young stud and a 1st is what I’m focusing my energy on this evening.

If you can somehow get a 1st in 2026 when more teams 1st rounders are available, I would rather go that route in the summer than be forced into something in the next day.

Not moving Gryz and Beauvillier would be insansity. You try and move some combo of Acciari, Hayes, Heinen, Glass, Lizotte, Schenn and Ned.

What's the alternative to puckpedia? I was trying to look up the UFA goalie market and the interface was balls.

If the Ducks can get a second for Dumo; Dubas should get a second for Gryz.

I have not found a better source yet, I use Puckpedia too.
 
I admittedly do not watch LA Kings games enough to see Brandt Clarke play much. Can someone explain to me how he isn’t just another Derrick Pouliott or Joe Morrow? Alls I keep seeing is how big of an idiot Blake would be to trade him, but the Kings see him in practice everyday. What if the Kings are right?
 
You can kind of figure out the state of this current team when you sit back and realize there is under like 5 guys on the entire team anyone would give a shit about if they traded.

I am in the keep Rakell camp, but for two first-round picks? Umm yeah I am making that deal.

Let's remember that we still have too many bodies with term and that we need to make room for the prospects one way or another. Trading Rakell is not my preferred way but it is a way.

I would do Rakell for two firsts.

I'm not opposed to them, it's their mandate to blow them away with an offer and a couple late 1sts isn't that.
 
The rumors about Boeser are really tough to judge in my opinion because we don't really know what the baseline is.

Like, are team balking at a price tag of 1st + 2nd + prospect for Boeser @ 50% or are they balking at 2nd+4th prices?

Same with Rakell. What are "sky high prices" for him? 1st + 3rd? Or 1st + Clarke (from LA for example).

It would be nice if there was a "one offer for him is x, y, and z" to help us gauge what the market is. I imagine Bjorkstrand and Gourde are going for essentially a 1st each, that is the price tag for Rakell. Probably 1st plus decent prospect or young player + 2nd. The sky high is the addition of a 2nd or upgrading the pick to premium prospect.
 


So a couple of options from teams I've seen rumored:

-LA: Clarke/Turcotte and Greentree
-Utah: Hayton and Lamoureux (wouldn't mind Maccelli as a throw-in but not as one of the main pieces)
-Columbus: Sillinger and Del Bel Belluz
-Winnipeg: Perfetti and Lambert/Yager, which they'd never do but I think I'm overrating Perfetti

The LA package is the best IMO (in terms of deals that are actually somewhat reasonable) but that Utah package is interesting. Hayton isn't exactly super young anymore, he's turning 25 after the year, but he's really developed into a good middle-6 center. Utah also has Josh Doan as a piece they could dangle, but I'd prefer Hayton and Lamoureux to him.

I think the Penguins are adding in this, but something like Maccelli, Hayton and Lamoureux for Rakell as a base is interesting to discuss. Lamoureux is the jewel of that trade, a 6'7" smooth skating 2-way RHD with top-4 potential, but Maccelli and Hayton should be good and young middle-6 guys now and going forward.

Do we know for sure that the two firsts offer are two late firsts? Two late firsts in 2025? I agree that is underwhelming but who is the team offering two late firsts this year?

If the offer includes a 2026 or 2027 first and a late 2025, I make the deal for sure.

EDIT: UNLESS you can get two young players instead. I prefer that all day, every day.
