If all of this is a big a crap shoot as you seem to indicate, what's the justification of doing the incestuous thing AGAIN? What's the downside to making an actual hire of people not associated to this steaming pile?
You have less information about them.
And it's not the same thing, Clarke hired people from his "circle," as did Holmgren.
Briere is more of a corporate hire, in that the Comcast people probably looked at him less as a Flyer and more as a young executive - for one thing he's not that much of a "Flyer" (6 of 17 seasons).

I suspect the reasoning process is similar to whatever is used to say that 4th line players are fungible and don't matter, while also saying TB won because of their 4th liners.

This isn't about making a difference. It's a huge pay raise for a glorified PR position and it gives him several years of stealing money from Comcrap, just like so many others have done since Snider died.

I’ll disagree on this. I hate the hire, but Jonesy isn’t a collect a paycheck guy. He’s a hard worker. I’m pretty sure he used to work for WIP for free at the start

I’ve listened to him champion the stupid shit that has plagued the Flyers for 17 years on Comcast/NBC. He’s not exactly some mystery box.

His love of Risto hurts my soul. So bad

It’s obvious that Briere and Tortorella are running this show. The Jones hire was done because he could work with them. No front office needs a fracture in it where the people are not working together.
There have to be more changes made in management. Flahr and the scouts can’t be let go until after the draft. We’ll have to see what happens with them then. I suspect Brown is going to walk the plank soon. His scouting has been a joke.
There needs to be moves made in player development. Lappy has to be on the thinnest of ice. The Phantoms did not play up to expectations with the talent that they had. Player development and winning are not mutually exclusive.
I’m waiting to see what happens now at levels lower than the top now that that tier has been resolved.

Toronto is light years ahead of the Flyers. They are not comparable.
Actually, they kind of are. It was not all that long ago that Leafs fans were saying virtually the exact same things about the Leafs that many Flyers fans are now saying about the Flyers. That MLSE (essentially their version of Comcast Spectacor) was a big corporate entity incapable of actually running a good hockey club. And here we are. Of course they still haven't won anything but still...

I mean that Current Leafs Regime isn't comparable. The Flyers are the Old Leafs, but worse.
