Whoever has to play TB in round one is f***ed, thankfully it most likely won't be us

Hopefully no more Tavares with Nylander.
What do you mean? Clearly it will work the 20th time!

Does anyone know what the penalty call was on our Leafs when Tampa scored on the delayed call?
McCabe dove across to block a shot and the Tampa forward stepped on the blade of a broken stick and fell on his ass. That was the delayed penalty.

To be honest, a lot of Tampa's PP attempts in this game were really bad. At least two were Game 6-style phantom calls where the Tampa guys looked like they were doing an imitation of this:

Jeannot went into concussion protocol. Having a guy like Reaves means guys like Hagel aren’t chirping.
At the Leafs, no. But Hagel (and Point, and Kuch, and Hedman...) sure had a lot to say to the refs, most of it whining about not getting a penalty every time they fell to the ice.

Pretty embarrassing to see players of that caliber who are that experienced behave that way.

I thought we had a great first period. Tbay didnt even get a shot until the period was half over. And when they did (and scored) we (Matty) responded immediately. Everyone was throwing hits and skating hard.

Then it just sort of stopped...I love Bill Nye but after he got hit he completely vanished. Do better.

Woll doesn’t have it right now. It’s pretty obvious. Maybe next year.

So you're giving up on him until next year? Foolish IMO. Kid will be a starter but hasn't had the reps since his injury to get in the groove. Also, he has been playing most of the harder games.

He'll be okay. Stick with it Joey, we got your back.

They just scored 5 goals against Florida two days ago all from less than 5 feet in front of the net.

I should have been more clear. When the Leafs are kept to the outside they just keep playing perimeter hockey. When they get time and space especially when the center of the ice is not well protected Leafs have no issues

Probability of the former rather than the latter is much higher in the playoffs

Her comment was that there were so many other good things to talk about. Rangers great season, this guys hot streak, that other guys what the fck ever. Like, she wanted them to ignore the line brawl at the start of the game... pretend it didn't happen. Okay Jen. It's the effin NHL dear, people have to pay the price for things they have done, and yes, we want to see it, talk about it and watch the replay.
So now she thinks she’s the Producer ? The woman on the TSN panel is great. Botteril’s a mess.

I thought the boys started pretty well and put together a good first period, unfortunately Woll just hasn't looked right since he's been back and that basically took away our chance to win

Tampa are good and hot, they will bury you if your goaltending doesn't stand up and coming back from that hole isn't an easy proposition

I'm not to concerned, Samsonov looks like the better option to start and we have a bunch of guys to get back

Not much time before game 1. Now isn’t the time to be helping him get his timing back. They need a confident goalie and more importantly the team needs to be confident in their starter before the playoffs start. He can’t keep letting the first shot of the game go by him.

We take a huge lead into the 3rd and the other team dominates play and makes a game of it.

We go into the third behind and pretty much rolled over. Not very encouraging.

Just so bizarre. Even got the benefit of a potentially momentum swinging fight thanks to Jeannot challenging Reaves and Reaves dummying him. Went absolutely nowhere and we were outshot in the third. Whatever. We just saw Florida have one of these kinds of games against us but still, they managed to scare us in the third which is a far sight better than what we gave Tampa tonight.

Keefe galaxy braining, he's purposely losing games so we don't get second and he doesn't have the ability to f*** up home ice

Matthews was good, his line was too

2nd line was awful. If nylander is hurt, sit the guy. f*** the 100 points. If he wasn't injured, then that was the most pathetic excuse of an attempt of hockey from a star player I've witnessed in quite some time.

Woll solidified the backup role. Ride or Die Samsonov time
Oddly enough, Nylander, along with Boosh and Holmberg, led the team in hits taken. Tavares with zero.

It was pretty obvious that Tampa knew Willy was the dangerous player on that line and targeted him all night.

Not that I'm condoning it, but I think I'd give up if I was stuck with JT again, after playing so well away from him.

Still, Nylander had the second best iCF (behind Matty), and the best iFF (just ahead of Matty) for the game. Matty the only Leaf with more shots (6 to 5).

Absolutely way past time to get JT off the second line and away from Willy. He's also totally useless on the PP.

I truly have no idea what Kampf was doing on the Point goal that made it 2-1. Brodie gets kind of lost because Boosh switches to Brodie's man and Brodie fails to adjust quickly enough. Kampf just abandons Point for some reason leaving him all alone in front and then two seconds later it's in the back of the net.

Meh game. The most exciting thing for me was looking at the remaining games.

Montreal: 8th worst GA/G
Penguins: 12th best GA/G
Devils x2: 6th worst GA/G
Red Wings: 9th worst GA/G
Panthers: 2nd best GA/G

4 games with teams averaging 3.37 GA/G. I think Matthews has a chance.

I don't really know what iCF and iFF really mean, so I'm gonna have to go off eyetest and counting stats

Nylander took alot of hits yea, but you can't just give up because of that. Nylander is dangerous for his speed, something that he didn't use at all this game, If he's gonna be dangerous he has to skate.

As for how well he played away from JT, we can't really run another line with how keefe does things. I'm all for moving JT to 3C, but then you don't have a 2C, especially with how domi fits with matthews. I really want to try marner and nylander together, but we don't have a center or even a winger who can keep up. Holmberg/Kampf won't work, maybe Jarnkrok when he comes back, you also would have 2 solid defensive players on that line, but there's no point since Keefe isn't interested in running 16-88 together without 91/34 being there.

Moreover, JT being bad can only give Nylander so much leeway, he has 12 in his last 15. That's not good enough at 7 million, let alone 11.5 million. Pastrnak out here with coyle and marchand putting up 115 points so that excuse only goes so far.

The pp is also awful because nylander and matthews are making terrible plays too. Matthews isn't getting the puck from nylander in dangerous areas as much, and matthews isn't able to dictate his style on the pp due to his lack of passing. Marner coming back should help with that, but alot of the pp woes is because those two are not playing up to their abilites, not just JT.

Ever thought wild card, higher first rounder is a better option for this team? We all knew when they re signed Keefe we weren't going far. Goaltending will become huge in the playoffs. Woll isn't hot and Samsonov is 5 and 9 in the playoffs. Its back to reality, this isn't a contender and we will be lucky to win one round. We all knew this wasn't our year.

We learn from studying history that we don't learn from studying history.

Keefe's only the latest on the ever growing list of incompetent coaches this team has had. I'm no expert at hockey. I dont know all the X's and O's about who's supposed to be covering who and stuff like that.

It's clear this team doesn't either.

That's on the guy who thinks respect in the handshake lineup is reward enough. He's just gonna keep making the same brain dead deployment and tactical decisions in the playoffs again this year. Past behaviour is always the best indicator of future behaviour.

And Keefe's too arrogant to learn from his mistakes.

History is not there for you to like or dislike. It's there to learn from it. And if you are offended by it even better.

Because then you are less likely to repeat it.

Ahh I see playoff Keefe is ready to go early this season.

I don't blame him, the management is blind whether it's Dubas or Shanny. He looks ready to let everyone down one more time.
