Meh... leafs have been excellent since Marner has been out. Even this game the shots were 29 to 26 in favor of the Leafs.

Both goalies made a couple 10 bell saves. Just breakdowns on Defense that led to stupid chances that Woll can't be blamed for.

Would Marner move the needle more than a #1 defenseman? I'd say certainly not. Playoff Marner is the worst offender for giving away the puck for odd man rushes against. Having Marner wouldn't have suddenly changed the shot totals to 20-30 in favor for Toronto. He never does.

This team would be Stanley Cup caliber with say Fox instead of Marner right now. Of course and an NHL coach.

I think people need to step off the ledge a bit(not on Keefe, he's awful). But we're so close to the playoffs; we already have injuries to key players; I'm going to give them a pass for this one. It's pretty unlikely we play Tampa rd 1 so it was a nothing game. And Woll most definitely won't be starting gm 1 if all other goalies are healthy, that much is clear.

Keefe is a problem though, always has been. Remember his comments about not line matching that year heading into the playoffs? :propeller

Does anyone know what the penalty call was on our Leafs when Tampa scored on the delayed call?

Because, up till that point, 10 minutes gone in the 1st period, the game was all Leafs. Not a single shot registered for Tampa.

So, if the penalty call against our Leafs was a legitimate call, then I will say nothing. However, if it wasn't a 'real' penalty, then the Refs wanted to change the game in Tampa's favor. Either way, it worked!

Our Leafs are not a competitive enough team on a regular basis. To succeed in the playoffs, a team needs to be operating on all cylinders. Matthews scoring goals means nothing if the other core players are no-shows. Tavares and Nylander were useless tonight !!!

It's a put up year for Marner. Fans won't be fooled if he disappears again these playoffs.

I feel the same. I am not even on the fire Keefe team, certainly not right now. Let's see how the playoffs play out. If it is a round 1 loss, he has to be gone. If they go out in round 2, probably needs to go. If they make it to round 3 or 4, suspect he is back but even that is debatable. Going on about it in game 73 makes no sense to me and really shifts the focus away from a lot of the on ice issues we have. I don't feel he is the reason they lost tonight or lose most nights. If they players can get the credit when they win, they can also take it when they lose imo.

They were winning only one of the games vs FLA and TAM. I thought it would be this one, but whatever. They have played a lot worse than they did tonight. Credit to Tampa, taking advantage of a soft goalie performance and beating the Leafs in most physical battles. We had one guy going... which is never enough unless it is the goalie.

I'm pretty sure his job is safe if they are in the conference final or Cup final.

Why are all the post game interviews asking about what its like to play with Reaves ?

I hope Willy isn’t nursing an injury and is just under the weather.
That was an awful performance by him tonight.

Saw a lot of retro jerseys tonight. Sittler , Clark , Gilmour , Joseph , Mogilny , Tucker , Kaberle , JVR , Lupul , one old timer with a Keon.

Didn't see a single Sundin jersey in the building or subway. Not one and I was looking. Found that strange.

Cup final 100%. More than likely Eastern Final as well, you are right.

Realistically I think if they lose in round one he is replaced, since it has been made very clear they are not changing any of the core.

If they lose in round two, I guess that is where the real debate starts.

Agreed, round two is the grey area, particularly if it is a seven game series. Money also factors into it - I'm sure the MLSE board doesn't want to pay another guy to go away if they can avoid it.

Which is why I never understood the extension... or at least the length of it. Regardless, I still feel this is player related but at some point we're going to need a new approach.

It's hard to argue. Every coach has a shelf life, even ones with winning records. Lots of pressure on Keefe this season, and I think that pressure shows through in some of the things he has said over the course of the season.

Bc he sent Jeannot to goo-goo-gaa-gaa land.
Reaves was probably wishing that he was in that Rangers/Devils game.

She was visibly upset in the first intermission after they talked about the Rangers / Devils line brawl. Like red in the face upset. I understand her perspective, but this is what the league is. Maybe she should cover a different league?

I disagree with most of her takes when it comes to pretty much anything.
FYP.

I think Martin Jones might be a better option right now over Woll.

Im kidding... I'm not... I am... I'm not.
I think Woll is stronger mentally than Samsonov. I don't want any part of a goalie whose mentally fragile. Still am not seeing terrible goals allowed by Woll. The first, he was screened which, we know first hand, is possibly the most difficult save for a goalie to make. See almost all the Vasi goals against in the playoffs. Two were point blank left alone players due do defensive breakdowns and the 4th.. might be the worst Still not dreadful.

I have no faith in Samsonovs swimming around either.
