Kadri

I think you should prepare to be surprised. I’m guessing he gets 5.

Max justice was given out in-game, that should factor in imo.

You also have to take into account that the league values playoff games more than regular season games. A three game regular season suspension is like a one game playoff suspension.

Kadri has had a net negative influence on the ice. After his hit the Blues started head-hunting on the ice. Just keep that guy away from a game of hockey. You don't want to see McKinnon have a concussion because of a player who does not contribute much or anything to the team.

Ehhhh...debatable. The Blues have been head hunting all series.

Hope Faulk is okay.

Kadri is obviously, and deservedly going to get suspended but it's amazing to me that nobody has any idea how many games it's going to be. DoPS whack-a-mole is really amazing.

Personally I would give him 2-3 games. Reason: Playoff games are worth more than Regular season, and there was a 5-min major called on the play. Yes he's got a history but this was a hockey play. He didn't cross check a guy in the face away from the puck. If his angle is slightly different it's a clean check. I also don't see this as a 'blind-side' hit. He's coming right at Faulk, so it's not like Faulk didn't see him coming. He just chose to shoot the puck and take the hit. Kadri also makes a lot of body contact. Still suspendable for sure because he hits his head as well, and I'm going to assume Faulk is going to be out, but it's not anywhere near as malicious as other checks to the head.

Repeat offender just basically means more salary is given up when suspended. History can still be taken into account.

But only when they want to. Didn't matter with Wilson who has a much worse track record than Kadri. They didn't act strongly enough with Wilson, and the Hockey World freaked out about it, so now they will throw the book at Naz to make themselves look better. Meanwhile, Wilson is still running around like an idiot and throwing reckless hits all over the ice, Marchand is spearing guys and hooking them around the neck with his stick, Kolesar is still playing while Byram hasn't played in 2 months, and Bennett got 1 lousy game for a dangerous boarding vs. Coleman. It's a f***ing joke.

The NHL is never going to be consistent in this manner. Best to just not expect it. Kadri has caused his own issues by just being a punk.

Not that we don't already know that DoPS is a joke but if he gets something like 3, 5, or 8 games for that hit but Tom Wilson got nothing but a fine for what he did then how is that even remotely consistent? All that said I fully expect him to most likely get around 3-5 games for it.

However, based on Tom Wilson and the fact he doesn't qualify as a repeat offender right now, and the fact they gave a match penalty for it during the game I think in being equal he should get more than a fine or maybe 1 game and a fine.

Never has been tbf.

The chip on his shoulder has clearly vanished. This the most passive he's played in his entire career; no jump, no fire. I really think his heart and mind are in Toronto
He never wanted out. He did this 2 years in a row for the leafs and will now be suspended for the 3rd playoff run in his last 4....Kadri was one of my favs on the leafs but his biggest issue is that he gets carried away or can't control his emotions. No emotion Kadri is just a 3rd line center... Emotion Kadri is a 2nd line center but it comes with actions like the one you saw last night. In his first few years in the league this was an issue even in the locker room. He is growing but unfortunately... not fast or well enough. Feels like the guy is gonna start losing opportunities soon. How do you trust him.

On a good note though, you have a solid team that can contend without him. Goodluck. hope to see you guys down the line.

The issue is last night we got 3C Kadri all year. I literally think that also might have been the first hit he's gone for all year and of course he's going to get suspended. Pretty bad year for Kadri that's for sure.

WTF are you guys talking about vigilante justice.

The Blues came out in game 1 looking to goon it up. Landy beat the crap out of one for this exact season.

They’ve been running around since the first period Monday. Schenn, Bertuzzo and Faulk have been gooning it since the start. Faulk caught a piece of karma when Kadri’s shoulder landed on his face.

I'm hearing from my local scaffolder that Kadri is suspended until the end of Round 1.

:sarcasm:

This would be interesting. It would remove him from playing again against the Blues and the bad optics of a "frontier justice" type of fiasco on the ice. It also has some degree of fairness to the Blues due to the unknown severity of Faulk's injury.

Kadri throughout his career has been around a 50 point player. He's also a bit sulky, stubborn and playing with blinders on at times. But when he's playing well he does create scoring chances for himself and plays a good physical game.

I don't think Bednar can coach him to do anything really. Just have to hope the coin lands on the good side eventually.

I don't think it was intentional but even the DoPS has been pretty clear that you can't pick the head with blindside hits like that.

They don't want those hits in the game anymore because they're too dangerous with the increased speed of the game. You have to find a way to hit through the body, and if you don't, the onus is on the hitter now.
Yeah, in the end, your intent doesn't matter. I don't think it was intentional either but checks to the head need to be eliminated from the game and unfortunately for us Kadri has to sit for that one.

To all the folks saying this is addition by subtraction, keep in mind that Bednar matched the Kadri line against ROR all night, and ROR has been a non-factor in this series so far. His absence will hurt more than you think.
