Kadri

There's likely zero chance that Kadri can continue this pace on a long term basis. He won't be worth the contract he signs. I hope he doesn't sign it with us, unless it's 5.5m or less for a few years.
His contract has been a steal for us.I just don't think newhook or anyone in the organization is a good replacement 2c right now. If we get a free agent it will probably be at a premium. Kadri does deserve a raise, I don't think we will over pay for him. It will be like a grubauer situation again. Sakic will have a number and I hope Kadri accepts it. He can play 2c until newhook or a replacement is found and then Kadri at 3 c would be ok.

We can't afford him. It's his final big contract, and it's likely coming off of a career year. Anything over 3 years and 5.5 million will sink us in the future.

This reminds me a little bit of Stastny. Good centerman who hasn’t been outstanding in his time with the Avs, but contract year starts blowing the doors off again.

The Avs will say they want him to stay, he will say he wants to stay, and then he will sign in Eastern Canada for a long term, high salary contract that starts to look bad almost immediately. The Avs will be left with a gaping hole down the middle. No one wins.

Unless we go steal Horvat from Dim Jim :)

Definitely gone after the season. The Avs must get a solid #2C at a reasonable price, might not be that easy.
With smart cap management, Sakic should be able to resign Kadri. I mean every contender has been able to keep their top 2 centers or top 2 duos.

Crosby, Malkin
Toews, Kane
Stamkos, Point. Etc...

Don't resign Burakovsky, get a cheaper winger instead of letting go Kadri and getting a cheaper center.

Trade Jost, that's a 2 mill gone. He's not doing much anyway

Kadri is pricing himself right out of Colorado with every point he gets. The man will be P A I D this summer, he's going to sniff the market and immediately get a massive contract he can't resist thrown in his face by a stupid GM.

Love the way he's playing this season, but it's a contract year and we ALL know how many times that story has played out. Hopefully for him he's going to get a Cup ring bonus on his next contract, which hopefully for us will be somewhere else. I do not want to be the team that pays him his next deal, no sir.

Kadri's production is not sustainable and this is an unusual career season at the age of 31. He surely will use this to get paid with term. The Avs don't have much extra cap and shouldn't be fooled into thinking Kadri will be a 60+ point #2C for them going forward.

I mean I guess it depends how much Kadri wants in the offseason, if it's unreasonable like 8 or 9 mill, then no, but if its in 6 or 7 neighborhood, you resign him depending on term. 4 years at 6 mill would be fair

He has been underrated his whole career, and contract year or not he is having a Mcdavid year so far this season. His pace should slow down

He’s having an incredible season, but I have a hard time seeing someone going to 8+. Just because there’s no sample size of Kadri playing at the level he has this year and he’s 31.

I think someone will probably go to 7 though, if he finishes with something like 90 points.

For reference: Matthew signed 7 years, 8 million with Nashville at the age of 29. Kadri isn't getting more than that.
