Kadri had been dog**** this season but his play was starting to come around the last few games of the regular season, though he still had a poor game 1 vs St. Louis.
But we're all fooling ourselves if we don't think Kadri would have helped. He'd allow Compher to go back to the 4th line and play on the wing with O'Connor, letting him do what he does best. He'd also make room for Burakovsky out there. Let's face it, Burakovsky is struggling in a major way right now in large part because he's the only sniper on the team aside from MacK/Rantanen who play together right now in the lineup.
Kadri takes 1,000 years to shoot a puck but he still shoots it hard and can pick his corners when he's on, he can also straight up shoot it through goalies as we've seen. Any time Burakovsky is on the ice, teams know he wants to shoot and the other guys are not threatening. Kadri is threatening with his shot.
Again, all I'm trying to say is that Kadri's loss was easily replaceable. The depth it took to do so wasn't. That tells me Kadri really isn't worth more to this team than Jost is. So if there is a market for Kadri, Joe should look at getting a decent return if he can and go with Jost/Newhook on the 2nd/3rd lines next year...hell even give Bowers a f***ing look for a change. But we all know the plan was and is for Newhook to be in that role by 22-23. Let's start easing him into it next season. It will be harder to do so if Kadri is still here, especially given Bednar's seemingly reluctance to play rookies until he's absolutely forced to.
