I don't think it can be expected/required to pronounce one's name correctly, as long as it is clearly understood who it is referred to.
Being a Finn (knowing Finnish and Swedish) it does amuse me how Finnish and Swedish players' names are pronounced here. But i understand and am ok with those pronunciations.

Disclaimer: I am ok with the ponounciations too, although I find them funny as well.

I just opened the conversation, since someone complained about Mess messing the pronunciation up...

Btw Cheadle is really cool.

Yeah i agree, my reply wasn't directed at anyone particular, but rather general to the topic.
I have to admit that i sometimes in some degree of frustration wonder why they cant pronounce it correctly, but i do understand it is not always easy to pronounce non-native words and names correctly. I have been in the States 25+ years and still struggle with English pronunciations (and grammar).

Craine. But roll the r because we’re Scottish and put a lilt on the vowels so it’s almost cre-an.

Nobody can pronounce anyones name. It’s all bastardized “close enough” Americanized translations.

Little known fact; Crane was a surname for a long legged Irishman, but after some digging, Craine with the “I” came from mostly the Isle of Mann and was basically their version of Gaelic’s version of crown, or royalty. So my son is Henrik Crown, or King Henrik.

The worst one is Václav Prospal being called "Vinny"

Here's what I don't understand. How is that you work for ESPN presumably listen to everyone else pronounce Chytil correctly, and you still pronounce it Cheadle? Come on Mess!

Mess don't give a F. He's an Alberta boy no matter how old he gets.

He definitely plays more aggressive with the puck in the Ozone.

Still again if he’s able to take his skating to the next level he’ll be a monster

really wish he got more ice time yesterday - that was more about strome gettig hurt and the number of penalties and most importantly the kids being matched against the stamkos line by coop. thats a compliment to them but resulted in some long shifts on their end. they hahd their moments and still were effective ....had his legs moving and was strong on the puck. wish he had been able to get that puck to a wide open laf in the slot in the first, and hes gotta get a shot off on that mini break laf gave him in the 3rd - would like to see a replay of that, live i didnt just think it was a penalty i thought there coulda been a penalty shot - but regardless hes gotta have a better awareness with people coming back on him, you need to make vasi make a save. have to know if theres pressure closing, thats a great spot to snap a shot from.

If Coop's plan was to match the kids with Stamkos, it's even worse on our top 6 that they were caved in. The kids weren't. Play them. I'm a broken record but it's just beyond frustrating. GG is more likely to put KK on line 4 again than he is give line 3 the minutes they are earning.

I obviously like the player and his game. When he was on the ice yesterday, the Lightning did not possess the puck. One of the best individual possession performances of the playoffs. Didn't lead to more playing time which is the point of this post. If we aren't going to use him, there is no point having him. Drury either needs to force GG to play him, or get what he can which isn't much. It'll be sad seeing him perform well somewhere else.

To be fair, what good is possession when he almost never does anything with it and quite frankly holds onto the puck too long way too often and squanders an opportunity? Not picking a fight with you, I love the kid but he needs to stop thinking and start playing when the puck hits his blade

What good is having the puck in the offensive zone every time you are on the ice? Your team doesn't give up goals. You can change momentum of the game. Good shifts in theory make it easier for the next group on the ice because the other team has to dump and change. You prefer watching Panarin throw it blindly in front of the net? Might lead to a scoring chance. Also 8 for the other team. You enjoy watching Mika in the defensive zone all the time?

At 5v5 I don't feel comfortable when any other line is on the ice. That has to count for something.
