Where would you prefer Slaf spend his 23-24 season?

I love how we're only supposed to get excited about him until he's like a PPG player.

Until then you have to be quiet because it's 'couple goals. big woop'.

We weren't allowed to get excited when he was looking good not producing.

Weren't allowed when he was starting to get assists.

Weren't allowed when he started scoring goals because they weren't beauty snipes.

Now we aren't allowed when they're nice goals because there's only been two of them. lol.
Main board is a cesspool of hate........beyond stupid takes there.
Not to mention our own board has been very impatient and in some cases flat out wrong about the kids progress.
We were all told........the kid was taken for the player he could become, and not for what he was at that moment....
Let's hope the next 30 games he continues to climb above all the cheap shots.

To properly evaluate him you need to watch him a lot. The main board doesn’t. What Habs fan say doesn’t matter. Plus there’s nothing they love more than sticking it to us.

They can only glean his offensive stats have been objectively sub-standard. That’s all they see and know.

Trying to explain his non-scoring contributions and ongoing improvement seems like excuse making by fans. In his case it’s not, but they can’t understand yet. They’ll just get it when he directly hurts their team on the ice.

Wait until his experience grows and he starts returning hits… it will happen and he will be a f***ing terror.
Exactly...
I saw Wilson coming, and I was like "oh no.... here comes the concussion"
But Slaf got his head up and stopped Wilson from being able to change the game.
You're correct, the next progression will be seeing Slaf deliver a monster hit in a 1-1 hockey game to shift the momentum. He needs the savvy to know the timing of when such a hit is needed.

People have to learn that 19 year olds are not a finished product. Moreover, development isn’t linear. There will be steps backwards and forward.

Fortunately, we have a staff that’s inifinitely better at developing players than we’ve had in a long time. Slaf is developing really nicely. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him put up 60+ points next year.

Agree, we can all expect 60 pts from him next year. I think he can easily put 20 goals and 40 assists. Maybe more goals, maybe less assists, but he have the elite playmaking in him and have the shot of a elite goalscorer aswell.

I don’t think he’s going to be an elite goal scorer. Seems to be a pass first guy. I would be elated if he winds up being a point per game guy.

Maybe you right. But he have a great power on his shot for sure. So 30 goals per season is realistic to believe that from him. I certainly see 40-50 assists per year from him, he is very very good playmaker, he have been unlucky to have only 13 assists so far, he have made great pass to his teammates who don't scores. But with Suzuki and Caufield on PP, Hutson one day awell, his stats will jump.

But yeah I'm just happy with his progression and 60 pts per year is now looking a lock for him, he is too good to don't produce like Suzuki and Caufield. Since 2 months he looks like the line driver of this line so produce like them is certainly a realistic projection.

They all have the talent to become PPG's players, they will able to that when MTL will be a better team.

That entire line could be PPG as early as next season if they stay healthy.
The thing is they will probably get split up unless we get our hands on another proven top 6 winger.
