As a side note, I've been seeing people say his growth is 'beyond exponential' it's 'parabolic'. Maybe his career will be parabolic, but I really, really hope his growth is not. Parabolas are not what you guys think they are.

I was at the 2022 draft in Montreal and talked to Wright. I said to him "WELCOME TO THE HABS" on the red carpet and he smiled at me. I can't believe I did this.

Later that night..."WHERE THE F*** IS CHELDISHGAMIBNO???"

Look at this long stick action here , like a dog on a bone , he's a disruptive man. 47 gets absolutely bum rushed from behind

What a pass by cole though

Toronto and Vancouver are the only comparables in the entire world to Montreal in terms of pressure when it comes to hockey. Perhaps there's some swedish or russian clubs that also have heavy scrutiny out there . Quite frankly when it comes to the NHL nobody is even close to Montreal Toronto and Vancouver

I think that's what I was saying, but there's nothing else to do in Winnipeg but smoke crack and watch hockey, they are pretty intense there.

Tom Wilson ran at him at the end of the 2nd and just bounced off. Slaf is getting his head up and now playing without fear.
Nice to see him pot a few.
Wait until his experience grows and he starts returning hits… it will happen and he will be a f***ing terror.

Hello Montreal homers. Lifelong Leafs fan here. Slaf is my fav player. I'm drunk as a lord - what would it take to get Slafkovsky to Toronto? Hypothetically.
Solid post count for day one!

Obviously we ain't selling, but it would take a significant futures package. Outside of the big 4, nothing you have, even packaged, would be appealing. Quite frankly, the contracts of the big 4 are albatross'. I don't see a fit.

There's nowhere near the same pressure or passion in Vancouver.
Most people here are from other parts of Canada or the world so don't 'BLEED' Canucks
It is a really bandwagon bunch who get really quiet when they don't have a good team.
When MTL comes to town, they overpower the arena 2fold...

my 2 cents since i've lived in both cities

Can't wait to meet Playoff Slafkovsky.

It's all speculation of course, but I think this is why Hugues went for him instead of Cooley or Wright.

The next best thing after a McDavid or MacKinnon in your forward group in the PO is the type of forward Slafkovsky is on the path to become,
Hadn't thought about this angle, but you have a point. Slafkovsky seems like exactly the type to up his game when the stakes are higher. "Playoff Slafkovsky" - love it!

I don't see Mtl and Toronto as good trading partners , especially for a guy like Slaf. Your best bet is to develop Knies and hope that he become your own version of Slaf ;)

Both guy have more or less the same type of attributes

Nah I agree I was hesitant to put Vancouver in the mix honnestly , Tor and Mtl are on another level no doubt.

I only gave Vancouver brownie points for the riots

You must have been happy to see him rip two piss misilles in the back of the net ! I know that was your main criticism on him , nice to see him show the world he's got those shots in his arsenal at the NHL level
He’s a machine at producing scoring opportunities. If he’s a normal nhl finisher with a normal release and a normal amount of shot on nets, he’ll be a star.

I see improvement in his release. Either he’s worked on it or he didn’t have the confidence to use it properly. I understand everyone’s excited but he still has much to do on improving his shot release. Hours more between practices and in the summer.

As for the 2 goals, he’s now convinced me he’s at least offensively a clear cut above Chad Kilger (Maple Leaf years). Anything can happen.

Knies + Niemela for Slaf? Knies will be even better than Slaf. And many people think that Niemela is a surefire #1 D.

If Knies being better than Slaf was actually something that people thought, then you wouldn't be proposing this. As it stands they're at basically the same level except Slaf is a year and a half younger, has more pedigree and much less team support. Montreal has, like, 6 D prospects as well regarded or better than Niemela.

That's not even close to what it would cost. And frankly Toronto doesn't have the pieces available to swing a trade.

If one good thing has come out of our insane amount of injuries, it's that Slaf got to play with the big boys on the top line for an extended period of time this season. If Dach and Newhook stay in the fold (hell, even Pearson )who knows if he ever sees time up there?

It's done wonders for his confidence and development.
