The Jets have a very good chance at taking the Central Division

4 good reasons in order of importance, and impact

1) Monahan - "great scoring hands" - he's money/ resign him.

2) Namestikov - fast and great playmaker - great pickup by Chevy

3) Ninoreitter - hard working 2 way player - great Chevy signing.

4) Villardi -- great hands and good size "if" he can stay healthy, he will really help the Jets.

The Jets did not have these kind of players last year, and the standings this year show their impact. I'm especially impressed with Monahan, and they should look at resigning him as soon as possible. The guy can score, good size, and fits in well with the other players. Sign this guy, he's "money". Resign Mono Chevy --please.

I'd kindly settle for a tall glass of milk.
I'd be more inclined to buy the balance argument if it lead to balanced minutes. We have a coach that runs his top line a third of the game and then third line that gets the next most minutes. Given we deploy the top line to the extent we do it makes more sense to me to optimize the line you have on the ice the most and then arrange the other pieces as you can. It will make more of an impact to have a much stronger 1st line and a weaker second line then it will to have a stronger second line and a weaker first line given current deployment.
Kyle Connor should get less than 20 minutes per game, ideally somewhere around 18 minutes per game. I added two games that were a hair above the 19 minute mark, but here's how he performed in those games:

Kyle Connor 19 minutes or less 2024.png

Here's how he performed - playing with PLD and mostly Svechnikov - in his best individual year (2021-2022); less than 20 minutes per contest:

Kyle Connor 22 less than 20 minutes per.png

And last season (2022-23), Connor registed 19 goals, 25 assists in the 35 games when he played less than 20 minutes per. He only scored 31 goals total last year!

Conversely, here's Nik Ehlers this year when he played more than 18 minutes a game:

Ehlers 24 minutes 18+.png

And last year:

Ehlers 23 18 minutes +.png

Ehlers highest "Average Time on Ice" was in 2021-22, at 18:04 per. Here's how he performed in games where he played less than 18 minutes per game:

Ehlers 22 Less than 18 minutes per game.png

He's greater playing reduced minutes, and KFC should (ideally) get scaled back too.

I pointed this out last week (or so), but here's the Dallas Stars:

Dallas Stars.png

That's 4 guys who are averaging 16 minutes per game, and none of them has fewer than 18 goals, and only Jason Robertson has taken +170 shots; and he averages the most minutes amongst the forwards of course.

Our forwards by comparison (excluding Sunday's game):

Yup, the only exception this team has ever made was for Buff. He was pretty much allowed to rove and do what he wanted.
Buff was such a unicorn. In order to get the most out of him you had to allow him the space to run freely. It gave other teams fits most times and our team fits the rest of the time.

I miss him. If this years team had 2017-18 Buff it would make us Cup favourites.

39-16-5 and Bowness doesn't know what He's doing and is going to chase players out of Winnipeg, Jesus Christ some people are never happy. Even if the Jets win the Cup some won't like the way we won it. We aren't just hoping Helly or Brossoit stand on their heads to get wins either. Enjoy the great season we are having right now people because It's very hard to do . Go Jets Go.

Seriously what the f*** do they see in Iafallo

Give Barron a second line shot. I didn't love him in the top 6 last year but 10 goals 99% of the time as a 4th liner is pretty damn good. Has size and more speed than Iafallo too. He deserves a look.
iafallo works his ass if and gets to pucks others don't . He does all the little things right.
Baron will get his shot but for now he is the straw that stirs the 4th lines drink. Good shot but goalie should have had it.

It's weird that Perfetti of all players has become the most polarizing.
Agreed. He is far from perfect but he is not a problem in fact he is a high end gifted offensive talent. Give him time!

39-16-5 and Old Bone King seems to be finding balance despite 4 members will an illness (the little bastard seems to know which end is up) and is presiding over a few wins in back to backs for Winnipeg. Homer "Jesus" Christie is my buddy at work, kind of a grumpy fellow, and if he doesn't get shaved turkey for lunch he won't be happy. When the Jets win the Cup I will party until I'm blue in the face, golf for days on end in my Jets merch, and won't go to work for two weeks. I was watching the pregame skate and noted that neither Helly or Brossoit will voluntarily perform headstands in full equipment. Bones needs to work on that. Anyway I will enjoy the great season today, tomorrow, and next week people and I'm hoping that while we can all soul search and analyze usage or seek the perfect trade...managing an NHL team for performance is an elusive trick, and It's very hard to do . Smash the ice my Jets, allez vous with the puck, crush thine opposition please and thanks. Now we prance!
I worked on this a little for you. I realize your original intent but mangled that quite heavily, please forgive me. :)

Double plus good .....lovely, lovely stuff.

Another back to back game, another burst of goals in the third, another win.

Nino, Names, JoMo and Barron with life giving efforts.

Super happy with this team! I bet my fam that they would win and they did.

I like Vlad and actually don't mind him on that line. My issue is what this shows us about Bones' decision making. All 3 lines were rolling and he just did that for no reason (probably because of a cross ice pass by 27 to 81 that got intercepted in the o-zone). This is not a one off... he clearly has a shorter leash with 27 than with other players. We desperately need that top line to atleast be average come playoff time and the only time it has been is with 27 there. Vlad is not gonna stay on that line once 13 is back so him having such a short leash with 81-55-27 makes me feel very pessimistic about us fielding even an average top line come playoffs.
I don’t think any team that has won 9 of their last 11 and is hanging around the top of the league has to do anything “desperately”.

Barron works his ass off just as much if not more. Seriously? That's your retort. And also importantly, Barron scores goals.

Will get his shot? When do you think. How many more killed offensive plays will by Iafallo will it take. He's spent 95% of his time this year as a 4th liner and has 10 goals so far that's extremely good (pretty sure he'd be near the top on the Jets in goals/60) reward the guy a little over someone who can only accomplish the mere basics of an average nhl player.

Andrew Copp: 10 goals playing 2nd line mins with PP time

Morgan Barron: 10 goals with 4th line mins and no PP time

I never called the coach or anyone else a "dinosaur"
Just a bunch of nerds and dinosaurs, cheering on a bunch of frauds.

I had such little faith in this back to backer that I went shopping with the wife for the Canes and went to Dune for the Sabres. I'll be in the barn Tuesday though.

Interesting analysis but I think it’s a bit of a correlation does not equal causation situation, in that when the Jets get ahead, the time on ice is more evenly distributed. When the Jets haven’t scored and are behind, the top players get more ice time.
