Ruling out preseason games two months before the preseason is a little alarming, if that is in fact the case.
It seems very much like Brassard is speculating rather than anyone ruling out preseason games.

I find it a bit odd that he's ok to golf, but wouldn't be ready for preseason games that aren't for another 2 months. Idk, the actual quote seems to be him saying he's aiming to be 100% ready for camp but it all depends on how things progress, but there should be no issues being ready for the start of the season. That sounds to me like if there are no set backs, he'll be like anyone else at camp, but if there are some setbacks, he should still be ready for the start of the season.

Idk if its camera angle or something else but Norris looks bigger and beefier than Chabot, and Chabot is listed at 6.2 195lb..
edit: just checked Norris also listed at 6.2 195. Looks like he grew a decent bit since last i checked a while ago. Looks filled out now, wouldn't be surprised he's closer to 205lb.

This feels wishful, Mick. A loose interpretation of the quote:

“Between rehab and regular training, summer has been pretty busy. I started skating again about a month ago. The goal is to be at 100% for the start of camp, we’ll see how things progress. I want to be ready for the start of the season (October 11) and there should be no problem there.”

Bold is mine. It’s not a charitable interpretation to say he’s managing expectations.

If Norris is not ready to go 100% at training camp that is disappointing especially considering he was rushed back earlier and could have had this surgery earlier.
He wasn’t rushed anywhere.

He saw several specialists and elected to try rehab to see if it would work, he came back after rehab was done but the shoulder didn’t hold up so he settled for surgery.

He didn’t want surgery earlier, so this is what that decision looks like.

I guess his legs and trunk are probably much bigger, which is good news for us. He'll be that much harder to play against.

I'm not really seeing how it's wishful thinking, he clearly sets out the goal as 100% by training camp, he does couch that by saying it will depend on how things progress but in the context of being 2 months away from training camp, and being cleared to go golfing, I don't see how that's an an unreasonable goal. He then goes on to indicate that there should be zero issues being ready for the start of the season a month later.

Yes, he's managing expectations, but by no means is he saying he won't be ready for camp, he's set the boundaries for his return as best case camp, worst case start of the season, all I'm saying is he surely isn't ruling out preseason games in what he's said there,. Brassard may have gotten a different sense based on info not in the article, or the tone of how he said it, but there's nothing in the quote itself that makes me think he's definitely going to miss preseason games.

It's not explicitly stated, sure, but... come on. It takes more reading between the lines to say that he'll play preseason games than it does to say that the start of the season is the most likely outcome, and that's before any input from Brassard on non-article information.

I completely disagree, he outright says he's aiming to be ready, 100%, for camp. He's absolutely sure he'll be ready for the start of the season, that's his worst case scenario.

I just hope Norris can take a faceoff without any discomfort. If he can't take faceoffs, his ability as a centre are severely diminished. Could just convert him to a winger at that point

If he can't play preseason games Dorion should get ahead of this and maybe aim to get a center who we can move to wing

Am I missing something or does Norris coming off LTIR put your roster over the cap? Is there an LTIR candidate I'm unaware of or does GMPD have to make a move or 3 to make things fit?

I don't see his comment as stating the "best case" and the "worst case". I see it more as a casual comment that could be easily mis-interpreted.

for whatever reason he didnt last year when we needed
Not sure I always thought that it was the demands of the position vs the age of / miles on the player and it wasn't just a week or two so that longer term demand might have been seen as too much... guess
