Some free agent placeholders, be it bad ones is not a fireable offense to me. If we had a trash prospect pool and most were busts then that would get me leaning towards that.

Yzerman will never be fired tho, so it's moot.

People voting NO, are you for real ?
Yeah, pretty easy call IMO. Early returns are a bit underwhelming but I think it makes sense to wait another year or two to see how their prospects look once graduated to the NHL.

That said, their pro scouting has been pretty bad... Is Steve Yzerman willing to fire Chris Yzerman?

Former Detroit Tigers GM Al Avila once traded his own son, might be time for Steve to give his bro the boot. Maybe wait until after the holidays though, could make for an awkward thanksgiving

Ken holland left that team in shambles. It’ll be 5 yrs in april since yzerman arrived. He needs a few more years imho. Like I said, most cases 5 yrs should be enough time but this team was horrific with ugly contracts and piss poor drafting ie. Zadina, mantha

Yzerman is basically unfireable in the foreseeable future unless he like gropes an intern or something.

Never seen a GM that most of the team's fans are still supporting that gets as much criticism from those who aren't Wings fans as Yzerman though, appreciate the concern for the Wings though lol

It'll be six years in April not five. It's been long enough that you can stop blaming Holland. This is fully Yzerman's team at this point.

I actually misremembered that as Yzerman’s first draft, however it was Holland’s last one.

At any rate, I think I remember correctly that at the time, the 2018 first round where Zadina and Veleno fell from their projected draft positions were considered huge wins for the Red Wings.

Check out this thread for contemporary commentary on the Zadina pick and this one for Veleno, it’s pretty funny.
