This is the obvious answer. I have no idea why people would complain about depth all year and then propose to trade said depth the moment we can add to it.

This place is bonkers. I blame EM.

He has scored 35. Once. And he loves teeing up from one spot
Your point? How many NHL seasons does he have?

He has scored at every level, and he can score from his favourite spot no matter what teams do.

Not enough problems I guess… ;)

I’m not saying he won’t. But 7.9 was high for one year of production

Sure, but it’s was a great year, but it’s built on a history of scoring.

Every contract is a gamble, but I’m stoked that we’re doing the gambling with young guys with tons of potential, rather than with guys near he end of the line where you’re hoping they can keep it up, or worse, paying for past production.

Our star core players are well paid to start, but at deals that already look good going forward as the cap goes up.

under 8 million for 35 goals is already a deal.

35 goals in 66 games.

Yup. Especially for a guy who can’t create chances for his wingers. To really get value from his he’ll have to have almost selke caliber defensive skills.
If you don’t think he creates chances for his wingers then you don’t have a clue what you are talking about.

You're saying this nearly one full year from the last time you saw him play. So I'd say that you're opinion is very obviously skewed by time lapse.

Josh Norris is a 23 year old top line two way centre and power play weapon that can put up 40 goals and 75 points, perhaps more considering the chemistry he has with Brady and on the pp in general. We are 7th in PP% and peaked at 2nd this season and I guarantee you those numbers get better with a $7.9M Norris in the lineup, as well as our 5 v 5 play across 3 lines.

There is no bigger indication that someone doesn't know what talent is worth in the NHL, or that someone is cherry picking a lost season to injury, then criticizing Josh Norris right now. He is absolutely the type of player that contending teams sign to big $$ and the fact that our cap structure, and Stu's emergence, allows us to have him on the second line is an unbelievable luxury.

And just in case you forgot, we signed Stu to a bigger contract after a lesser season and look how that turned out. How on earth do you not apply the same optimism to Norris???

Let yourselves be happy people!

f***, the only thing we need to worry about with Norris is how his shoulder will be going forward. He scores, he creates chances, he's an excellent 2 way C and he's young.

All i want is for our young players to be healthy and a healthy Forsberg plus a good backup. I dont even care about a veteran 3rd liner, that's all i ask for next year.

Hopefully, Norris comes back strong as Pinto did from his shoulder surgery. He's another good young star with 60 pt & 40 goal potential that will only help this team make the playoffs next yr.

Even if Norris ends up with "only" 35 goals again next year, he'd be in the 13-15 range for centres, as of right now. His cap hit is #19 of all centres.

His deal is decent market value at worst. If Norris gets better (which he most likely will), the deal is going to be very good as early as next year. Definite W extension by Dorion

Biggest X factor of next season. If the Sens want to make the playoffs than Norris has to perform and be worth his big contract.

Any photos of Josh training yet?

give us some hope!
Dorion said the other day that he is skating, so presumably he is doing at least some light stickhandling and shooting. He will have parameters set out by the Sens training staff as to what he is allowed to do and when, so it will be a steady progression. all summer. When you heard him interviewed during the season, you could tell that he was dying a thousand deaths having to watch the boys play - I am expecting a highly motivated guy when the season starts...

Hopefully, Norris returns to form as Pinto did after his shoulder injury. These guys are youn & recover quickly after surgery & he'll have the best training possible to help.

He seems like a great guy on every level.

It is all about if his body holds up. A lot of very talented, hard working atheletes don't make it because of injuries; he is incredibly lucky, financially speaking, that Dorion is a moron.
