What's the recovery on shoulder surgery? 4-6 months?

If he would have just gotten the surgery at the end of October, we would be past the 4 month mark now. We could have been talking about Norris skating and joining this lineup at the end of March. Too bad..

I hate even thinking about it.

we can't downplay the time it takes to get back into game mode after missing pretty much a full season of hockey. Pinto will need to be a insulator for Norris at times while he finds his groove again.

Norris is a first line center, we have Stuzle to insulate him. Pinto should be able to play third line center and focus on his game next year.

He’s not the first player who had injuries to start his career. Surgery should fix the shoulder permanently and he should be able to get back to the two way centre scoring threat he was showing before he went down.

He’ll be worth his contract if he can continue doing what he was doing, let alone get better, which is why seemed to be happening with his defensive game.

Next season will be like adding a top 6 centre for free.

The boys typically start skating several times a week a month before training camp, then camp, then exhibition season. He'll be fine

As long as he can take a faceoff...

Looking forward to seeing him set up office on the PP and score those beautiful one timers. Those shots were probably my favourite part of last year

I agree he will be fine. But nothing emulates playing real games. Its going to take some time before he looks like Josh Norris again is my prediction. Probably around game 30ish.

I think it was market value gamble for a young player. Norris was a top 10 goal scoring centre last year. This year he has a top20 C cap hit, but assuming he maintained production from even last year, it would've been worth it imo

35 goals, 7.9 isn’t an over payment, and it will look better and better as the cap continues to rise and we have all of our core players locked in.

If Ottawa somehow winds up drafting Bedard, do you think they explore a Norris trade? Not much room with Stutzle holding one of the top two centre positions.

Probably the best ever plan to have. I think Norris could be an odd man out, but at the same time, too much centre depth is never a bad idea. One of Pinto or Greig become easier to move and we can use them to address goaltending/depth. I'd try to keep Stu, Norris and Bedard for one season to see how he does. Stu with Cat, Norris with Brady, and Bedard with Giroux.

I thought 7.9 was high.
It was but the Suzuki contract set the market.

If we were lucky enough to land Bedard or Fantilli you unload Debrincat as soon as the ping pong balls land.

I'm down to move Cat as well if we have Bedard or Fantilli.

Out of curiosity, would you (and anyone else) also feel the same way if we have one of the other top 5 picks (Carlsson, Mitchkov, or Benson)? I'd do so for Mitckov, not sure about the others.

If the Lotto balls land, you move Joseph lol. you get the opportunity to have three first lines next year because bedard is on a ELC for the next three year he doesn't force anyone out.

Tkachuk - Stuzle - Batherson
Debrincat - Norris - Greig
Bedard - Pinto - Giroux

Carlsson for sure. I’m not familiar enough with Benson. Michkov is under contract for a couple more years I believe.

Hope he performs, or he'll be supplanting DBC in the HFSens doghouse.
Norris is very solid all over the ice, if he scores 30 goals with 30 assists he’s worth every penny he makes.

Yeah he has to be the one to go in that scenario. Although maybe

he WAS solid all over the ice for part of a season. There’s some betting going on with that contract
