Who's the best Anderson comparable in the last decades Habs?

Early Pacioretty but he was also bringing more than Anderson was. He had the same type of goals early on: on the rush. There's no real comparison. We've had good skaters/physical types.. but without the scoring touch like Dale Weise or Andrew Shaw. Shaw is probably closer to what he is but, then again, without the shot.

He's a tough player to find a comparable for because his level of size and speed are so rare, plus he can finish/has a good shot. But while he's so good in those 3 dimensions, he's pretty bad in others. And on the positive side, he has great character.

So a very unique player, but not because he's so good at so many things, rather because he's so good at a few things amd so not good at quite a few other aspects of the game.

I have a hard time finding a similar profile in the whole NHL at this moment too (although I follow less the NHL so I wonder)

How come a guy who is playing in the NHL since 8 seasons is no better now than when he started. These guys cannot learn and improve ? Coaches cannot correct their shortcomings ?

At 5m, you’re not getting a perfect player either

Some players dosen’t have his size and physicality
Some dosen’t have his skating or his shoot

I like more game of Andy than Pacioretty with Habs. Yeah Pacioretty is more productive player, but Anderson bring physical ability, he is a good goal scorer too.

A player like Josh Anderson is very rare and I believe that he can product more in the future. He is a real top 6 player and he can easily up his production next year. Looks players like Kreider and Marchand, they up their production at age 28-30.

Love Josh Anderson. The problem with JA is that he should be more productive than he is given his physical gifts and good shot. It seems strange that he's not a consistent 50+ point player and that is somewhat frustrating.

Yes, but for example, I don't think I've ever seen a player of his size, physicality, and skating ability that can't for the life of him cycle the puck. That is, he's not even good at grinding, in addition to often not being able to make plays with his linemates and often being clueless innthe defensive zone.

He is good at hitting, providing a physical presence, countering with breakaway speed and a good shot. And by all accounts he has good character.

Patch was very physical early on, better defensively as well. He was a better player overall (not considering production). Marchand is another example of a better player overall. His production really exploded when Pasta progressed (at 20yo). Kreider is also another example of a better player overall but I'm not sure if he'll be able to keep that production going.

I don't believe Anderson is going to bring much more production in the future. 25-15, at best. I believe he's going to regress in his 30s too. He's still very flawed. His production only comes from Even Strength. He's one of the worst forwards to play on the PP this season (the other one being Rem) and yet he was the 4th most used forward

I like Anderson and it would take a good deal for me to get rid of him. He's a little overpaid and definitely inconsistent, kind of like Troy Brouwer. He's probably going to fall off at some point and it'll be good to move him before that happens. But I would give him another two seasons.

Anderson is a flashier player than Pacioretty and has better physical tools (he's faster at least), but Pacioretty has a significantly better toolbox. He's got just as good a shot as him and is several orders of magnitude better defensively, positioning himself, and in driving play.

Anderson has utility, but he needs linemates that will involve him and draw defenders away from him.

No point in moving him now unless you get a haul, but he's never going to be a core peice on a team.

It was literally right after this hit (I believe he got a suspension) that he stopped bringing any physicality to his game.

He just needs to watch those Kovy videos and learn to play with more of a squat; he’s all upright and not ready to move! Other than that I love powerhorses but no more than one on each line :)

At 28, its hard to imagine he will be much different then he is aside from maybe a spike herr and there. Dont bring up Kreider. Yes he exploded but was also consistently better throughout his career then Anderson

Anderson struggles to hit 35 points

He is what he is, a flawed likely fringe 2nd liner at best. Ideally is in the 4.5 non long term deal type. His body likely will further breakdown as he already cant play a full season

We need to find a way to have a taker and get a good return for Anderson. Get the size and toughness you need on your 3rd and 4th line for less than 3mil. Pezzeta and Deslauriers should do. We can also add some size and toughness on D for next year as well.

you are happy with 19 goals from a 5.5M player?

look around the league at what other teams get for 5.5M forwards
Honestly.. I'm happy with the goals. 20 is fine.

It's everything else that makes me cringe.

So on the last place team, he should've had, what? 30?40? I didn't say I was happy, I just said 19 isn't bad considering the circumstances. He finished 2nd or 3rd. It's not like anyone else was scoring like crazy. To me, it shows that with an improved team, he's definitely capable of more.

On an improved team, he might actually be worse.

Only time he looked good, was spurts on the top line. Even then he often looked lost. Suzuki dserves way better than Rene Bourque

Anderson is hard to place in a lineup. He causes matchup issues as he is an abonimation defensively and doesnt use his teammates well at all so its tough to put him with your best as he often kills plays

Good team he finds himself 3rd line that cant be trusted do to his D
