I'll reply this time with this... :biglaugh:
Anderson produced at a worse clip than Christian Dvorak who plays a better position and is good at face-offs. Produced at a worse clip than Hoffman, who many would personally drive out of town. Produced at a worse clip than waiver wire pickup, Rem Pitlick. Oh, and he also produced at a nearly similar clip to the very hated Brendan Gallagher.

This all while Anderson ranked 2nd in overall TOI, 4th in PP TOI, and and 16th in SH TOI.

But I guess that's all you can reply with since there's no words you can use to defend that type of play. :biglaugh:

He also lacks a stable spot in the line-up. Posters are obsessed with targeting flaws in his game and yeah, he's not consistent but he shows up in big games and also shows up when he plays with Suzuki and Caufield.

If he was paid $7M+, maybe some of these critics would have a leg to stand on. However, he is not so they don't.

If you think points is how you evaluate a player like Anderson, you need to reset, take a step back, and start over. You don't "get rid" of player like this. He's not a dime a dozen type forward and he's signed for prime years.

You should have learned that points evaluation towards Danault was a mistake.

Danault is good defensively. Anderson isn't. That's the difference.

I don't evaluate Ryan Reeves based on points. But I don't take him on my team if his cap hit is 5.5M...

We don't know when Anderson's prime will end. So, we don't know if he's only signed for prime years or if he's signed for some prime years and then years when he has declined.

Danault provided many more "extras" then Anderson. And also still outproduced him offensively.

Danault would have been a terrible signing for us. But he's worth his contract on a team not in salary hell with contracts like unproductive grinders like Josh Anderson.

Luckily there's not much room for that.

Keep evaluating middle 6F with a points approach if you wish. Guys like Danault and Anderson are valuable secondary pieces. You don't get rid of pieces like this.

Calling Anderson a "middle 6F" is purposefully misleading.

He has the level of play (meaning both offensive and defensive output) of a bottom 6F, while being played and paid like a high-end 2nd liner/fringe 1st liner.

Sounds like Danault treatment to me.

$5.5M for prime years is a high end 2nd liner and fringe 1st liner? You think middle 6F is misleading and you come out with this?

I stand firm. He's a solid middle 6F and if he was more "perfect" like you and some others wish, he would be worth $7M+

Guys like Danault and Anderson are players you want to play with vs against. But you can attack his game if you wish. You're not changing my mind on Anderson and our management is on record of saying he is here to stay. I see what they see and it will take a hostile offer for me to move him. Way more than the Toffoli trade.

Danault is very valuable. He provides production at both ends of the ice, wins face-offs, and has solid advanced stats. Danault is a very solid #2 centre or #3 on a great team.

Anderson has.... some hits?

Middle 6 @ 5.5 while ranking 2nd in ES TOI and ES TOI per game over the last two years....

Middle 6 folks!

That would be a big mistake to trade a player like Josh Anderson. Even if his value is great, this guy is a perfect player to have on a young team. He is a leader, looks Kreider score 52 goals at 30/31 years old, I don't say that Andy going to score 50 goals, but he can put 20-25 goals per season (maybe more) and physical presence.

Habs can trade every other players (Except Suzuki, Wright, Caufield, Romanov, Guhle and all good young players) if they want, but please, keep this very good powerforward in Josh Anderson!!

I like Andersons sand.

I wouldn't trade Anderson. He is only physical guy we have. Besides Edmundston. You don't want to go all finesse.

Big, fast, physical winger is like a good goalie. They are undervalued until you don't have one.
Exactly, when Anderson is hot he scores about 10 goals in 15 games. Very streaky. Makes great winger on first line. He's as good as any winger in league. Considering his size and speed. Then next 15 games he won't score. Or may one goal. Move him back on third line, make a good energy/speed line with Evans and Ylonen

Like most here I do think Anderson serves an important role considering our still small-ish team but he's terrible at playing hockey.

Decent shot, good wheel but he's clueless all the time and rarely start or finishes plays.

He's like Zednik and Erik Cole in the driving to the net aspect but that's all.

I'd get rid if him if the price is right even for a somewhat lateral move of proven 40-50 players.

They are undervalued by few posters here. Sometimes I read some post and he seems to be a cap dump. Like, every GM would give a fair price to acquire him without a doubt. Cause like you said, those powerforward a la foligno, Alex Tuch, tom wilson, are rare

100 pct, and most of them mature later then others, so anderson has a lot of upside too. Again like a poster said above, look at kreider.

To me, his biggest knock is his hockey IQ. He rarely read the play well and he's terrible in his own zone. It's the main difference with most other power forwards out there. I swear.. most people only watch offense.

I've said it in another thread but I like Lehks more than Anderson overall

I'm a big fan of Anderson but in my mind chances he ever have a 2022 Kreider like season ever are equivalent to Gallagher turning into Marchand.
There is a problem with your evaluation of odds though hahahah as anderson has the age factor that increase the odds, as low as you might think they are. So simply put, it can happen but unlikely.
gallagher turning into matchand now , is as likely as two elephants flying out my window. so in non sarcastic english, never.

Well, if both happens (not the elephants), we're in business!

Anderson has the ability to make the other team defensemen nervous by his size and speed. If he had hands, vison and IQ, he would be elite and probably elsewhere. I like what Lekhs was bringing but in my opinion, it's easier to find on the market. The other thing with Anderson is even if he's streaky, when he committed with talking, he showed up in the next game.

Same could be said about Anderson. The description you make is of a grinder. Those guys aren't paid like top6 forwards.
