There really is no point trading Anderson. He's young enough to be part of the rebuild for now. Lot of fans overrate him but he's still a solid top 6 winger and his contract is okay.

I will say I'm far less concerned about him aging compared to most power forwards. Guys like simmonds and Lucic fell off in their early 30's because of skating.

Anderson is probably in the fastest 5% of skaters in the NHL. Even if he slows down he'll still probably be above average.

Anderson is passing more and using his shot more under MSL. It's exactly what he needed. Plus by playing with CC and Suzuki, he easily defers to them, allowing him to not be the primary puck carrier, making him more dangerous.

Anderson is a player that defies a lot of advanced stats because his unique brand of athleticism let's him play a game that would be inefficient/unable to work in the NHL for other players. He almost plays like a good player in JR because he's just bigger and faster:laugh:.

He definitely is an incomplete player when it comes to vision/playmaking, but they're maximizing his strengths and when you can do that and minimize his flaws, Anderson is a great asset. Cool to see him get his 1st hat-trick with Montreal.

He gets tunnel vision when carrying the puck and reverts to the same move every time. Nice to see him add some different plays to his arsenal. Definitely has untapped potential in the hockey IQ area. If he can work on that I can see him improving a lot in the next few years.

6 goals and 7 points in his last 5 games. With the leadership vacuum, I think it’s fair to say that this guy should be in consideration for wearing the “C” next season. He’s a leader on and off the ice, plays hard and can/will stand up for his teammates. I’m a big fan, and really enjoy him on a line with Suzuki and Caufield as he complements the smaller guys very well. I shit on Bergevin constantly (and deservedly) but turning Galchenyuk into Domi into Anderson was pure wizardry.

He's clearly your #1 next Captain target but I just don't want another Pacioretty story...

I think the best candidates for captains are always first of all defencemen and then centers.

Kaiden where are you at?

His hockey sense and defense is terrible which is why you cant have many of him

There is also a reason he has found ZERO chemistry with any linemate in two seasons with MTL

He has lot of raw physical tools but his lack of hockey sense limits him severely.

He is no Tom Wilson. One was 16th overall, one was 95th. There is a reason
Anderson GPG 0.26. PPG .46
Wilson GPG .17. PPG .41

Anderson has 97 goals in 362 games
Wilson has 108 in 620

one plays for the powerhouse Washington Capitals playing with super elite players and the other played for Columbus and a Montreal team that’s just starting to find a #1 Center plus played for Ducharme, probably the worst coach in Canadiens history….

WTF are you talking about

And I’m a huge Wilson fan but let’s not get carried away here.

Trading Josh Anderson will be a big mistake, even if we got a solid return like a 1st and great prospect.

When he play at his best, he is a game-changer, yeah he need to be more consistent, to be a true leader... but his skillset is rare. It's like having a Kreider or Wilson type of player.

Caufield - Suzuki - Anderson complete each other perfectly and Andy make space for 5"7 Caufield.

Gorton didn't trade Kreider during the rebuild, he ain't trading Anderson

Also, I refuse to live in a world where we traded Toffoli and Anderson, but held onto f***ing Gallagher and Petry.
Better. Not. Effing. Happen.
I'm fine with trading Petry too.

You're right, he's not. Rene actually showed up in the playoffs.

Bourque was in a deep fog and lost in orbit at least 95% of the time. Anderson gets on the score sheet and is involved game in and game out. Your allusion to “the lights are on but there is no one home” Bourque has to be one of the worst comparables anyone has devised in here and there has been some doozies.

Why don’t you put your Bourque exaggeration to a poll? You will lose, guaranteed. Your thread title is disingenuous and you know it.

Hahaha the salt in your tears is delicious.

One little hot streak doesn't change anything. If he keeps this up long-term, my opinion will change. But his hockey sense is so poor that I don't see it sticking.

Ha ha, what salt? It's just entertainment. Your unconditional love of Desharnais, that's what was truly delicious.

Olympian. Far more than Anderson will ever achieve.

I really f***ing hope we sell high.

And of course if I make the post now, many will think he's great. He's on a hot streak. Just like when I made this thread, many agreed, because he was playing horrific. Remind you of someone? Oh Rene Bourque. When he was on, this forum was wild about him. When he wasn't, this forum hated him.

The actual player is somewhere inbetween. He's got a decent shot, game breaking speed, he's physical enough. Defensively, he's a dumpster fire. And his hockey sense is some of the most poor I've ever seen.

I'd gladly eat crow if his recent run of form becomes the norm. I don't think it will, but I would love if it did. That's one less player we need to worry about for 5 years.
