Kings News: Jonathan Bernier to TML for Matt Frattin, Ben Scrivens, & 2nd ('14 or '15) (pst#276)

The Wild? Boy, would I love to see Coyle come here. That said, if it happened, I'd feel bad for Minny fans about it.

Zucker is much more likely the guy involved, though. LW, has some experience and success, and was born in Newport Beach, CA (according to hockey.db).

Jesus christ I don't want him to go to Toronto just so we don't have to deal with their fans. Anyone got a hard wall I can bang my head against?

Deal with it baby! We'll be like inlaws :-)

Guarantee this ends up like Simmonds, though. Before the trade: lol quit trying to pawn your garbage on us. After the trade: lol Kings are so dum how did they give this guy up Bernier >>>>>>> Quick AINEC AINEC

Heh, I can already see it. We'd deal him to Toronto, then they'll whine and moan about the price for several months, then they'll realize that Bernier is ridiculously good and then we will hear rumblings about how good the deal was, as after an awesome playoff performance we will hear about how they won the trade hands down the entire following year, how he is a franchise goaltender and better than Quick and we were stupid to have ever parted with him :P

What is the status of their current goalie? He seemed pretty good. They came back from a 3-1 deficit against the Bs.

Reimer isn't bad, I saw him a bit this year, but I would say that Bernier is far superior. Toronto fans are unsure about Bernier through a combination of not being familiar with him and being wary of their own defense. They think Reimer failed because of bad defense and Bernier succeeded because of good defense. They'll be in shock if Bernier ever plays for them, because the difference between the two is quite noticeable. We'd never hear the end of it :P I guarantee you.

I think just about everyone underestimates Bernier. Nobody thinks of him as a #1, just a backup with potential. We know better because we've seen him for years, have watched him play behind bad and struggling defenses, and know the guy can shut down an offense. He's the real deal. Hopefully he goes to the east because I sure as hell don't want to face him on a regular basis.

Close.

We trade him. Fans complain about the high price and want Nonis fired. Bernier starts out very hot. Fans flood local radio to praise their new savior. Bernier has a rough week or two. Cue trade rumors. Fans turn on him. They call his house and leave messages and death threats. Bernier then goes back on a tear. They build him a statue. Repeat this over and over again. For years.

Pretty much this, and just like you posted. I wonder how much input Lieweke has on this? I mean he has seen Bernier more than anyone else.

I love how people say Frattin has potential to score this and that many goals, but what has he actually produced? Pavel Rosa and Jeff Shevalier had potential too.

I want a proven player for Bernier.

For those who want a opinion on Bernier, all that needs to be said is this...he plays behind who most consider to be a top 3 goaltender in the league...and there are STILL Kings fans out there who want Bernier to start more games each year. Even now, I guarantee you there are fans out there who are afraid that Bernier will come back and haunt us even though we have Quick. For years DL has treated Bernier like a diamond in a glass case. It's time to part with that valuable asset and trade him for another player who can contribute every game.

Bernier has been a legit prospect at every level and nothing he has shown on the ice has done anything to diminish that. He's got the pedigree and the Kings have the development system in place. The guy is going to be a very good #1 for some team. Hopefully one out East.

Trading Coyle or Zucker would be a ****ing huge mistake. I don't think GMCF is dumb enough to propose a deal around one of them for Bernier.

I think the problem here is that there doesn't appear to be any other names from the Wild roster or depth chart that would help the Kings beyond those two names. That is in terms of young players who are either unproven or in the early stages of their development.

I don't think Bulmer is good enough, Lucia does seem intriguing but I'm guessing he's years away and at this point Tanner Pearson would likely be ahead of him if they were competing for a position in the NHL.

Yeah, Frattin is Dwight King 2.0, don't see him ever being a top 6 player, and would be a lock for the third line with Stoll. He is just more proven and more capable than Dwight King is now. The key to the trade is getting the first round pick.

And if we're going the route of first round picks and bottom six player, I'd MUCH rather have the 15th and Matt Martin.

Frattin is better than Dwight King.
