**** me. Oh my. No. Patches is MUCH MUCH MUCH better. Much better.
Stylistically, they are similar.
I make the comparison since most LA fans haven't really seen Frattin play.

How is he Dwight King 2.0 when he's better now and will be a better player in the future?
He's more like a Max Pacioretty.

I'd still rather have Read or sign Holloway to fill that hole over Frattin. I'm just not high on Frattin at all.
Frattin's better than both, in the long run.
That's highly debatable.
If it's between Martin, Read and Frattin and picks...I take them in that order...if it's between Read and Frattin, I would take the undersized Read because at least he cracked 20 goals once already.
I'm embarrassed for others if fans are saying Frattin is Dwight King 2.0. I mean...really?He's much more skilled than Dwight and not to mention he has more speed.
Jesus Christ guys...
No it's not. It's wrong. Read is definitely better than Frattin. Holloway at worst would be around the same level of player of Frattin.
Dude you really need to actually read the posts. Stylistically they play a very similar game. Obviously Frattin is more skilled. No one is even coming close to denying that. But the style and way they play the game is similar.
The one thing NO ONE is talking about is that Frattin is a RWer. We do not need another one. It's well established. RW is now in the league of centers and D for us - incredibly deep with no real room for additions.
You do know Frattin has played LW in the past, right?
So you'd take a one year rental in Read for Bernier?
Interesting...[/QUOTE]
not as interesting as you thinking Read will be a one year rental...

Read is going to command 3-4 million in salary, at least, in his next contract. Not to mention we got Dustin Brown extension going on...not sure we got room for Read.
You're picking 18 year olds late in the 1st round and hoping they become 50-60 point NHL forwards or second pairing defencemen in the NHL. Matt Frattin will be that in the next 3 years and fits in with the team. I don't understand the logic behind a late 1st rounder being better than a guy like Matt Frattin.
You're already one of the 5 youngest teams in the league.

Quite a reach since Holloway's never played in the NHL.
I, of course, will not get into a future debate as I seem to have left my crystal ball at home. But if you're familiar with software, the version number denotes development and advancement in the code. Saying he is Dwight King 2.0 means that he is more developed and refined than King, but in the same mold. It doesn't mean that he is the same or that King is better.
However, he is in the same mold as King with better hitting ability. A good two-way forward that can chip in some points on the bottom 6. Frattin, this year, was 25GP 7G 6A 13P. King last season was 27 GP 5G 9A 14P and is two years younger. I wouldn't exactly be jumping on the one player is vastly superior and will always be for the rest of their careers train just yet....
They are similar players and Frattin is a clear upgrade at the moment, but that isn't the point of the trade. If we wanted a better player, we'd trade for Read. We are interested in Toronto's offer because of the possibility of a first round pick, not because you have offered the glorious and reputable Matt Frattin...
