Utter BS. Pulling the goalie with around 30 seconds left when down by 2 makes no sense. Especially when the team is playing like garbage. Game was over, why hand them another free goal?
Your probably right on the BS but there was 2 minutes to go when Gio made it 5-3. Flames won a game last year with less time.

You have to at least try to win the game.

What game were you watching. Oilers entered the flames zone at 1:30 remaining, yet talbot stayed in the net.

Because there's no extra penalty for losing a game by two goals or losing one by three.

There is however, a bonus of 2 points still on the table. Maybe it's 1/500 but you never give up. Never say die. That goal is meaningless, the win is crucial. It makes me happy that the Oilers organization is still willing to accept losing.

Said it this summer, but the kid's got an Art Ross in his future IMO.

I was sold on him before he ever got to BC, but he's exceeded even my expectations. Awesome stuff game after game.

I said earlier he's a top 10 forward in the league right now, well it's pretty hard to dispute it. More and more teams are seeing just how good this kid is, he's a legit superstar in the NHL.

With guys like Crosby, Getzlef and others slumping, I think we're watching the take over of the next wave of elite stars. Gaudreau, Taresenko, Seguin, Hall, Benn

So far this season this guy has been unreal. Justin Schultz must be a big fan of his too, since he apparently likes to help him score easy goals.

Yeah Yeah. He's a great player, every hockey fan deep down inside knows it.

With that said, tonight was a skate in the park for him. Match him up against the Schultz pairing, easy peasy.

Monahan is playing so bad this year. Honestly Bennett or even Granlund should get a crack. Sometimes I don't get Hartley.

Couldnt agree more... really hope Treliving doesnt hand out a similar contracts to him and gaudreau. He's a 2mil a year less player then Gaudreau IMO.

Sure, only thing is that he's doing it to everyone. Winnipeg has a good defence, Gaudreau saw Buff a fair bit of that game, and he recorded a hatty. At a certain point, your offensive ability becomes so good, where its a matter of going out and executing. Well we are seeing that from Johnny.

And he admitted that Gaudreau was a good player, doesn't change the fact that Schultz gave him the biggest gift that even Gryba could have scored.

Actually I take that back, Gryba couldn't score on an empty net

You guys keep saying it like it's going to take away from Johnny or something , it may soothe your wounds, but it still means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Does any argument on this site mean anything in the grande scheme of things?

If I want to make myself feel better that a player who won't be on this team next year blew us that game then god damnit I will ;)

Fan 960 says a source heard McLennan didn't want to pull talbot to let Johnny hockey get another hat trick. Lmao if true what a sad effort, who cares your team should try to win.

Meh. Haters are gonna hate regardless of what he was gonna do.

If he left the goalie in with minutes left down by 2, people are gonna criticize him for not trying to go for the win.

If he pulled the goalie in with minutes left down by 2, people are gonna criticize him for giving his opponents a chance to score when the game was already over.

The point is not the exact amount of time that was left on the clock, nor is it whether they should have pulled the goalie or not. I am just refuting the idea that McLean's sole reason for not pulling the goalie was to prevent Gaudreau from getting the hattrick because that is just absurd.

I still don't see the point, he admitted that he's a good player but then singled out Schultz. My point was that he's victimizing everyone. So it's not as if he's just exposing a weaker level player. My point is the fact that he was facing Schultz tonight is somewhat irrelevant.

All he said was playing against Schultz tonight was a walk in the park tonight, doesn't mean that he's not performing better when its tougher for him. I think Johnny had a weaker game tonight than his 2G indicate, especially compared to some of the other high scoring games that I've seen him play. Maybe thats why he commented on Schultz.

I guess as a Gaudreau supporter we are all just tired of hearing, "He won't do that in the WJC's", "He won't do that in the pros", "let's see him do that against an NHL dman". Schultz definitely has his deficiencies in his game, but Gaudreau is playing at a higher level than majority of all of his competition he's facing.

He got 4 points against Boston, 2 against Buffalo, 3 against the Rangers. We've seen him go up against higher competition than Schultz and look just as good if not better at times.
