Q: Public questioning a factor?

A: There wasn’t one specific reason. It was the choice of how we are going to get better and move forward. It wasn’t one specific thing.

Q: On Mike Sullivan:

A: The staff is the way it is right now. We are dealing with this today and we will decide on that in our meetings.

Q: On Kreider

A: I thought he played very well. Young players sometimes take longer to develop. I think Chris was fine. He will be an excellent player. I am not disappointed in his development and I think he will be a great player for us for a long time.

Q: On the style of the new coach

A: There are a lot of factors when looking for someone who can get us to our ultimate goal. It isn’t an easy thing to achieve. Hopefully whoever we hire has a lot of the good things that Torts has, the good things that Tom Renney has. There are a lot of good coaches out there.

Q: On Lundqvist’s comments

A: IT didn’t have anything to do with. We plan to sign Henrik to a long-term comment. It had nothing to do with that. This was a decision that I made.

Well one is that it's none of his business who they hire. Coaches are hired to help discipline the players. It would be hard for your friend to tell you what to do.

That's like you choosing your boss, teachers, or maybe even your parents.

I disagree, as someone who runs a business, I often seek the opinion of certain key employees when making a hire (who they would be reporting to). Henke should be here for life, and he's as much if not more important to this organization than anyone else not named Dolan.

NO! It's one thing if a player and coach don't mix and you go with your star (happens all the time) but the player should not hand pick the coach.

I did not say hand pick, by any means. I just believe he should be able to interview candidates and give feedback.

Yes he is still head coach of Phoenix, but I believe him and Maloney are both with out contracts at the moment. I could be wrong tho.

This has probably been answered as I am digging thru thread, but Maloney was reupped yesterday. I think Tippett is pretty much untouchable. I don' think they are going to allow him to be interviewed outside the organization.

Sather said scratching Richards was "an organizational decision" that Tortorella made in conjunction with front office.
