How can you really blame Sather? From an outsider's perspective I think he's done an amazing job. I'd kill to have him as my team's GM. On paper the Rangers should be contenders, they have everything, just the offense didn't flow. You can't blame Sather for that, he gave Torts the pieces and Torts didn't produce with them.

Without derailing the thread, it is more than possible to blame Sather. He's not a very good GM.

We can point to a lot of factors in why Torts was fired. It's the right move but it was done for 1 reason. Torts questioned the roster. This was an ego move (not that i disagree with it) but Sather let the cat out of the bag by not answering with a simple no when asked the above question.

I don't disagree with the move but I think Torts questioning Sather is the reason. All the other reasons are secondary to Sather....

The thing is, he's been questioning Sather's lineup since he's gotten here, this was just a bit more public.

Nothing else needs really be said, except Slats/Dolan realize Kreider is essential, and getting that voice in his head off the team will accelerate his confidence, development.
We can NOT waste another year on his ELC. We have to be right from the get go with him.

It also is an overture to Hank, to let him know that mgmt is concerned about keeping both the fans and the players happy, in that order, and that KIng Henrik has a serious input and his voice will be heard.

Answer one question always leads to so many more. These questions however, are the right ones to be asking and the ones necessary to ultimately win a Stanley Cup.

GMs do have a shelf life but who's calling the shots in the end? Dolan? If Dolan was arrogant enough to assume cup is near last year, why would be consider Glen a bad GM?

If I had to grade Glen's work over his tenure here it would be a C+

Mostly because he was GOD awful for a long time until a few years ago when we went in the right direction with drafting and some solid trades to acquire the talent we have.
