you can see by leafs players and management's reaction, they have everything to lose in this series.
AND i hope Tavares recovers ASAP

I applaud Perry for quite literally trying to dive over Tavares in the fraction of a second he had to react.
I'm unsure if the injury would of been worse or better had he effectively just went skating through.

As much as I hate Toronto and dislike what Tavares did to the Isles; I hope he'll be ok and recover quickly. Him trying to get up was the stuff of nightmares.

He had like 10 minutes to go grab one of his team's dozen ipads and watch the play for himself. Stop making excuses. It was a dumbass reaction to an accidental play.
Oh ya, because that's the thing a normal person would do when your captain is unconscious on the ice.

Give your head a shake.

Jesus f***ing Christ. What a crazy sequence of events, and what a scary response. Hope JT is okay. I don't think anyone's at fault here.

I don't think Perry meant to knee him in the head but I definitely think he meant to skate by and give him a bump. He had plenty of time to avoid him.

Do you see the frames in which the play happened? Tavares fell and half a second later they collided.

If you said Perry wanted to hit him while he was up, sure. But to bump him AFTER he fell? Impossible, look at the speed and the trajectory; Perry barely had time to react and I believe even did a good enough job to try and dive last second instead of skate to the face.

There are actually people here who think this was intentional?

Tavares was practically still airborne when he got hit. Perry would have to be the greatest athlete of all time to have the reflexes to do that on purpose.

Seriously you need to be one hell of a dumb motherf***er to think that was intentional in any way.

no trainer was trying to stabilize his neck while tavares was like "screw that im ok" and trying to get up totally ignoring the trainer

they are only going off what they're seeing in realtime, no replay.

They had plenty of time to look at the replay. So either they’re willfully blind. Or were mis-directing their anger/shock by trying to hurt someone else in retaliation. Not sure which one is worse.

Interesting view. Same thing if someone gets injured by a deflected shot, must fight whoever deflected the puck?
You know damn well that's not the same.

Habs are vocal about playing us rough, our captain goes down in an accidental hit during a rough play (chariot hits JT and JT runs into Perry's knee) and goes out the way he did... If he walked it off it probably would be different but the captain going down the way he did shocks the bench.. Foligno is setting the record straight accidental or not.. if you injure our okay during rough play you're going to answer the bell.. it sets the tone for the series and other teams as well... Everyone is going to answer. This isnt regular season and we're trying to set the standard.

Didn;'t take very long for this thread to become a cesspool. You would think people would have a little respect when someone possibly just suffered a career, possibly life altering injury. I guess not

There's a dozen other threads for you guys to get off by trashing the Leafs, not sure why you need to be doing it here

Said this in the GDT, but with the way the trainer had his hand on the neck, the blood... the way JT slumped over backwards and went limp.

I genuinely almost hurled. I was convinced we just saw someone die on the ice. I'm still sick to my damn stomach.

The last time I felt that sick from a hockey hit was Max Pacioretty.

I think they're probably more concerned with Tavares being seriously injured rather than their job security.

Jesus, just saw what happened. Thankful there wasn't contact with the skate blade there. Still a terrible result but all I can think about is how much worse that could've been and how hard I cringed thinking it might have happened at first glance.
