I think Stevens has to go, if that doesn't shock the malaise out of the team then you start dissecting the roster. As John McKay said after being asked about his teams execution, He said "I am all for it!"

Luc’s list:

Wayne Gretzky
Tony Granato
Dan Bylsma
Sean O’Donnell
Derek Armstrong

If Blake is forced to fire JS, I fully expect him to put out a coaching staff of HC Nelson Emerson and assistants Glenn Murray and Jaroslav Modry. I’d half stomach it if they brought Ziggy Palffy back to fill the job Turgeon did before he bounced.

Not that I expect Blake to come out and say "yep we'd better win 3 in a row or Stevens is gone," but my god, a 4-2 loss is a step in the right direction? That's only because you just got murdered 7-2, nowhere to go but up!

I fear this team actually winning a game, they'll sell the 'see? nothing to worry about' forever.

It's not a 5 game losing streak where our attention to detail is good and we just need a break, we are just getting utterly crushed by bottom feeders or close night after night.

Last nights total offensive zone starts ...

12 for Clifford (3), Lewis (6), and Thompson (3)
4 for Amadio (2), Kempe (1) and Pearson (1)
9 for Forbort and 5 for Walker

If you see Thompson, Clifford or Forbort on the ice after a TV timeout, you know John Stevens is updating his resume on linked in instead of managing the lines.

For those that don’t like the Kings PP, watch the Isles second goal tonight. This is an example of coaching and skill. We lack one. Leddy blows up the ice, gains entry with speed, but EVERYBODY else jumps up with him. To the right, to the middle, to the left. GOAL. Why is this part coaching. Because every other Isle knows Leddy has no intention of seeing if he can be a hero first, and then a bailout pass. He performed his role perfectly. Personally like the deke at center ice being a former D myself. But this is an example of everyone knowing where and what they are supposed to be doing, and executing it. It’s a sweet hockey goal from my standpoint, especially after watching the Ks

I agree Forbort isn’t good at O Zone starts. But I’m sure the point you’re really trying to make is we were losing, not winning. If we were actually ahead by two, I would not have a problem with this.

To me a 1-0 loss is the same as a 20-3 loss. The problem I have is game situation coaching. You almost get the feeling that Kings players get certain D stats thrown back in their face during no matter the situation that existed when they obtained some sort of bad D Stat. So, as they say in the world of statistics, “You will get what you measure!!” What does this mean? It means if your coach is measuring something, that’s what you’re going to get. An example of this is the Kings winning the least goals trophy last year. It sounds wonderful doesn’t it? But when you look at where the K finished in the standings, you’d think they were 1 or 2 in league with that. So, why did they win that? Because even though we were behind in several several several games, we continue to play toooooooooooooo fxxxxxxxxxxxx much D!! And so, we didn’t lose 20-3, but we constantly lost low scoring 1 goal games. And win the trophy!! Ha!! Part of the reason the Kings look so bad once behind is part of the team is willing to risk it and catch up. The other part is afraid of JS and his message, and everyone wants to stay in the lineup. We need a coach with a clear message, and yes, there is a different trophy than the Jennings, idk!! Ha!! Wine and World Series doesn’t mix

The saddest thing about this is the Thompson line was our most effective at generating chances and actually playing like they gave a shit.

Every game that Stevens is still employed is one game closer to me completely backing off my "hold the core" arguments and just embracing a full blow up/tear down INCLUDING Doughty and Kopitar.

Agreed. What's the point of trying to make one last run at it without proper leadership? It's like making one last run at Le Mans in a Porsche 956.

Would be easier to do if Vilardi, aka the one prospect the Kings had in an eternity that can be a top end player, is making Gaborik look like an extremely durable player.
