John Stevens must be launched into the Sun UPDATE: John Stevens & Nachbaur incinerated

  • Work is still on-going to rebuild the site styling and features. Please report any issues you may experience so we can look into it. Click Here for Updates
Every game that Stevens is still employed is one game closer to me completely backing off my "hold the core" arguments and just embracing a full blow up/tear down INCLUDING Doughty and Kopitar.

To me it doesn't matter if you blow it up for nice pieces if the **** infrastructure is still there.

Blake absolutely won't axe Steven's this season. If things keep going the way they are now they will make a trade. As of yesterday, Blake brought up a Martinez trade. "...when asked about John Stevens, Blake responded, “he’s a good coach. He’s a real good coach." (Kings Insider 10/24)
Things obviously change as the season continues but I just don't see Blake having the strong arm to part with a good friend of his. Major changes will be made to the roster before Steven's goes. He'd rather blame the guys on the ice.

In some ways that's admirable; sorry, roster, figure it out on your own and stop being a bunch of f***ing babies.

The problem is, imo, it's both things. Roster needs a public hanging, but the coach needs to be jettisoned as well. My worry is that Blake will do neither in a fit of indecision instead of both. Like, while sitting around for 20 games in an effort to figure out where the problem is, we'll just stay in the basement with no changes.

This locker room absolutely needs a coach or captain who doesn't tolerate losing or bad play. Someone to rip apart the locker room behind closed doors. Steven's and Kopi don't strike me as people who are capable of doing that. It's not their style. Players on great teams know there are repercussions for poor performance, bad penalties (kempe...).

I don’t buy that having a person who fires up the locker room will improve this team. These players are all well paid professionals, and these type of last place team performances are about talent, not emotion

Disagree about the last half, it's not about talent, the talent is there, it's about execution and cohesiveness, which isn't.

They live on the beach in Hermosa/Manhattan, many of them have won 2 cups, when you reach the top( twice), it is not a far fetched notion that they don't have a lot of fire anymore, especially as age creeps into the equation. Unfortunately... Throw in the fact several have young families etc, priorities change.

Kempe who is new to this fly's around the ice, makes a lot of stupid plays cannot put the puck in the net, but you see he has drive.

Same goes for some of the other young guys, but they don't have the skill set (yet anyway) to make a difference. The problem is the guys you are paying to lead and dominate, are they guys who seem to have checked out for the time being. There are flashes but overall they are playing way below their pay scale.

There's absolutely no reason Stevens should be fired right now.

He's actually the perfect tank coach IMO. Nice guy. Takes the losses and doesn't complain too much about it.

If Blake isnt going to fire Stevens, Blake needs to be fired too then.

Im tired of GMs sucking off the coaches to the media. Hated when DL sucked off Murray breathlessly, hate it now.

He's been a good GM all things considered, any GM that has an emotional attachment to any team should get promptly executed.

f*** that shit.

"Stevens is a real good coach" shut the f*** up with that dumb shit.

It doesn't matter what he says. He's supposed to say that. He'll keep singing Steven's praises to the public right up to the day he fires him.

I've never understood why people care so much about what management/players/coaches say to the media. They're just giving you the PC responses. That's what they supposed to do.

Once the Down With Brown injury excuse wares off after his impact will have very little effect on the team winning games again, Stevens will be the next issue to address. My feeling is the coaching system in place is no longer effective against today's NHL. Bring in a new coach from outside, who understands the players can play team defense, but need to be pushed to be more creative and play a more up tempo game, when on the offensive attack. Also, where the new coach can run a more effective PP that doesn't grind so much! The Kings roster as is still have good offensive players, but Stevens doesn't know how to maximize offense from this roster. A good offense attack can be a good defense in today's NHL.

Because it's not always like that and you can tell. This organization has become a good ol boys club.

When Murray got fired it was well documented how emotional DL was for letting him go.

I can't say that Blake is going to be crying in the lockerrooms with a huge kleenex box in his hand, but f*** me if I said I'd be surprised if he did.

The thing is, if you read the sentiment of what Kings fans are saying about Stevens the last thing you should be doing is praising him for the absolute lifeless/illogical hockey they're playing.

Stay silent on the matter if you don't want to annoy or spare someone's feelings.

Annoyed this organization has been reduced to sucking eachother off and acting like a bunch of kids when tough decisions need to be made.

I'm sick of seeing Ex Kings rolling out of their coffins to become part of the organization, I'm also sick of the fact that no one is earning their positions.

This organization has become friends getting eachothers back first and what's good for the team second.

Annoying as f*** man. I haven't even been watching games twice already. And these spineless beat writers arent even asking tough questions anymore.

Terry Murray got that team 75% of the way there. Kopitar gave him a shout-out when he won the cup for making him the player he came to be. Hell, I'd take Terry Murray as a coach. At least the team would play some f***ing defense and have some structure.

Edit: No, I don't really want Terry Murray back....

I would take Terry Murray back as an interim coach, just to have the team re-learn how to play defense.

My fear is that they will actually trade futures for some sort of "right now" player. They won't actually move one of their Twitter darlings: they will actually add to this mess.

They were willing to trade futures at the draft. They've sold this as a contender. I see them adding instead of tinkering. If they add, the sell tickets/AEG theory is confirmed.

Didn’t these idiot players from the 90’s and 00’s who never won squat here save enough money where they don’t need a cushy job to roll into after they finish surfing and playing beach volleyball in the mornings?

The Kings have become the ultimate kakocracy.

Here's the response from 2012 -

Luc still doesn't have a business education from anywhere.

Blake ****ed over the organ-eye-zation when he could - and is doing it again.

So long as AEG sees "butt's in the seats" ( or at least all seats paid for), why change anything?

Anyone who actually pays for this crap is an idiot...

Luc learned about the “business” side of AEG Sports under the auspices of Tim Leiweke.

I’ll still give time to see how Blake f***s over the Kings again, but most of the f***ing was done by the previous regime. Cleaning up this mess of a team is no simple undertaking, which is what Blake needs to realize and fix. If he doesn’t realize that this team is no longer a contender, then he’s lost with no direction in sight.

That said, whatever Luc spews is like carny talk, just smoke and mirrors so that they can sell tickets and convince fans they’re icing a competitive team.

I agree with your last point. Can’t believe anyone would willing spend money to get kicked in the balls.
