Yeah, great movie. I remember taking my 10-year old daughter and telling her that her grandfather worked on the Apollo program. Boy, was she impressed. She had no idea Grandpa helped to send men to the moon.

Two scenes really stood out to me in that movie. One was the moon slingshot scene, there was chaos when they had to plan/figure out how to turn these guys around. Second one was building a co2 filter out of scrap parts under a severe time crunch to save those guys.

The people involved in that mission were incredible.

No, Sutter's success was obvious. Are you saying the core didn't get tired of the hard work it takes to play his system, and their lack of willingness to do so didn't contribute to Sutter being fired?

I believe I read the average tenure for an nhl coach is less than 3 years. Regardless of if the players stopped playing for him, he was here what, 5ish years?

I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, its definately overdue to replace the core, but Sutter had a long run as a coach.

With that said, tippett is a guy who did great with a coyote team that lacked a lot of talent, he might do wonders for this team.

Woke up this morning hoping to see an article about the Kings firing Stevens. I was very disappointed.

if it's going to happen at all, from a business perspective it should happen after the Minnesota game

they have games to sell for their home stand, merchandising, viewership etc... not many people in LA are interested in watching the Kings lose every game 4-1 - LA doesn't exactly scream Hockey Culture - it's a Winning Culture - if they keep losing w/o any form of entertainment value (outside of Bailey), there will be empty seats sooner than later

i hope Blake can appreciate this fact

I always thought Sutter's style of play led to diminishing returns, regardless of the personnel.

I don't think Sutter's system is easy to play, and I don't think he demanded it of the players every night during the regular season.

It's tough to beat his system in the playoffs though when it is being played correctly by the right personnel.

Consider my faith in Blake officially shook.

Unless he means 'real good assistant,' which I agree with. Stevens seems to have a good mind for the game and good human interactions, he's a sharp dude, but he's not head coach material.

Yeah when Sutter got canned, the only guy with longer tenure IIRC was Quenneville. There may have been one more, I forget. But he was absolutely top 3 at not even 5 years.

It's never 'too soon' to fire a coach if it just doesn't fit. But it can absolutely be too late.

The average tenure of an NHL coach is 3 years. That should tell everyone that the inmates are running the asylum and the average NHL GM doesn't hold the players on their roster accountable.

I will pray until April that they do not fire Stevens

What this team needs: Jack Hughes, or anyone who comes close
What this team does not need: a wildcard spot, a first round exit, more of the same old, same old BS, "we are still competitive with our old identity" blabla, and a draft pick around 18th.

Until last week, I was afraid we'd become a Minnesota (perennial first round exit), now I am afraid we'll become a Detroit (stuck somewhere between playoffs and top 3/5 picks)

I get that Blake is saying all the right things about Stevens, but how many more games do the Kings lose before he has to let him go? Twenty games??? To him might mean there is still enough time to turn it around and make the last playoff spot.
Or does he think it's both the coach and the players, play the season out and make the changes between Feb and July
