John Moore

Moore is exciting... And I really didn't expect that. The skating ability is elite and he really seems to have some of the other aspects that makes a good defenseman.

With guys like Dorsett and Brassard looking as good as he does, the trade is already very good. If Moore turns into a top 4 defenseman, you are talking about a special trade.

I drove home from dinner in between periods...got a text that said "Sick fight, Moore killed him!"...

I thought my friend was confusing our new players, and that he meant Clowe. haha

I like this kid more, every day.

John Moore or Tim Erixon?

Sather, while still being a puppet, seems to have a way with trades.

If you think about the 2 trades that went down with CBJ, it's hard to not compare Moore with Erixon. Moore seems to have much more grit (as evidenced by last night), is the better skater, and seems to have a slightly higher ceiling. I'll be honest, I haven't watched Erixon much this year at all, so I can't speak to his development, but.... I'm pretty happy with the swap.

They are the same age, and were 2 picks away from each other (21 and 23) in 2009.

Thoughts?

*mods*: I forgot to click the poll button... can you make this a poll?

Both will be good top 4 dmen, both ceilings are high enough to possibility be more.

Moore is obviously the better skater of the two and has more NHL experience early on in their careers.

He looks okay.

I like his attitude, seems to have some fire in his belly, but he does get hammered along the boards playing against bottom liners, wonder what would happen playing against top lines. Still young enough to grow into a bigger role.

i think erixon is more talented with his passing...i wanna see moore shoot more...

He has good instincts you can tell, but also a little apprehensive unless on the rush. I hope its not the game this team plays that keeps him from holding back instead of going by instinct like I see with alot of the guys that struggle here.

Concerning Erixon / Moore...

I haven't been paying enough attention, does one play primarily on the right side versus on the left?

One reason (as a CBJ fan) I didn't have a problem moving Moore was because it seemed like we had about 3 slightly different versions of the same guy: Moore, Erixon, and Goulobef (sp?).

It's my understanding that Moore played the right side in Columbus, while he's played exclusively left side here.

Erixon played mostly left side in New York. In my limited viewing of CT, he frequently played both sides.

Mike Reilly will eventually be like those guys too, maybe better if all goes well.

Moore might be the piece I'm most excited about in the Gaborik trade. There's a lot there. Skating, vision, smarts. If he can develop more of the snarl he had last night, he could be a steal.

Or Del Zotto. Or when Staal bolts to Carolina.

For some reason I do not think that Staal will leave us. He's beloved on this team amongst fans and team mates alike. He has a family here already. And he's in arguably the best city to play professional sports in. I'm sure its a legitimate possibility, but, it seems that the situations are different between Jordan and Marc.

I'm being sarcastic about that

I know everyone has been saying "oh, I confuse him with McDonagh out there"...but, I don't know, I find it pretty easy to distinguish between the two. Is it just me or anyone else agree? They're different players, IMO.

Some of the moves they make at the blue-line and behind the net are what get me. Apart from that, McDonagh is built like a tank which gives it away.

Yeah, I don't see it. They look somewhat alike, but when it comes to the way they play on the ice, they're very different.
