Sather, while still being a puppet, seems to have a way with trades.

If you think about the 2 trades that went down with CBJ, it's hard to not compare Moore with Erixon. Moore seems to have much more grit (as evidenced by last night), is the better skater, and seems to have a slightly higher ceiling. I'll be honest, I haven't watched Erixon much this year at all, so I can't speak to his development, but.... I'm pretty happy with the swap.

They are the same age, and were 2 picks away from each other (21 and 23) in 2009.

Thoughts?

*mods*: I forgot to click the poll button... can you make this a poll?

They're about equal, but I prefer Erixon's longer track record.

I know everyone has been saying "oh, I confuse him with McDonagh out there"...but, I don't know, I find it pretty easy to distinguish between the two. Is it just me or anyone else agree? They're different players, IMO.

Not just you, I don't see them alike at all. McDonagh's skating is on another tier, which isn't a shot at Moore, but he is probably top 3 skating wise amongst defensmen.

Just now on ESPN's sportsnation they do a segment called 3 tears. 3rd tear was for Skille getting best down last night by Moore! Here's to some mainstream coverage for Moore's effort.

Doughty, Karlsson, Letang. I don't think McDonagh's top 3.

Apparently he forget how to skate on the PP tonight with 5 minute left. It looked like he was skating in mud trying to get back on the 2 on1  No harm, it hit the post.

Also doesn't play top-4 minutes.

That really shouldn't do anything with mental lapses. Del Zotto is more prone to them because he's not as smart as Moore on the ice. Moore has better decision making skills already, is what I think the point of that post was.

Sure it does, less pressure on Moore and less chances to make mistakes contributes to the amount of lapses you would see

man is he soft on his feet... seeing his debut counterhit on cooke i was hoping this guy was gonna be a tank, but man he's squishy when he's not ready

When Staal comes back, Moore is staying in, Eminger is coming out.

He's been playing a very solid game. Hopefully he reaches his potential.

It would be nice to hope that, but Torts does value veterans over rookies as we get to harder and harder games. I wouldn't be surprised if he even took out both Eminger and Moore in place of Hamrlik.

Ideally, Moore has earned his playoff spot when Staal comes back, but you never know.

That is true, but the point i'm trying to make is Del Zotto, to begin with, has always been susceptible to poor on ice decisions. From his rookie campaign - to now. Moore is showing a lot more maturity and a lot better decision making.

Moore has his own flaws right now. He's caught up ice a few too many times for my liking and relies purely on his skating ability sometimes too. He needs to bulk up a little more. Very reminiscent of McD his first year when he came up. The Del Zotto comparison, I believe, is not as accurate as the McD comparison. McD started out was similar offensive ability too.

Then Torts is just stupid (I guess many argue he is anyway). Moore isn't a rookie either. He has nearly 100 games under his belt.

if Torts does that. he is stupider than most think he already is.. no way he does that... i think he would call up Bickel before playing Hamrlik again :help:

Del Zotto has been great this year with a few awful games thrown in there. Don't bring his name into this thread. He is more groomed and developed. He gets top 4 minutes for a reason.

That being said, Moore has looked great for what you expect of him. Pretty sound back there. Quick with offensive prowess. Makes our defense more versatile.

Which is surprising? Most guys don't absorb hits well when not ready lol.

Kid is a smarter MDZ.

idk.. maybe he just exaggerates the falling motion, but he seems like when he gets hit he goes flying... maybe he's just never expecting the hits... maybe he doesn't have the strength/balance to take hits.

I don't know what Erixon likes now but this year's version of Moore is much, much better than last year's version of Erixon--who was tentative and non-physical.

Yes it does. More ice time means more chances to make a mistake. And a second pairing defenseman is facing more difficult opposition than a third pairing defenseman.
