The 90s game was great for the small ice. The interference, two line pass, no delayed offside, loose officiating all led to a much more physical game that thrived in tight quarters. Today’s game is about skill and speed. Larger rinks are perfect for that. I also have to start wondering whether we should redefine the offside rule to be more like soccer. It would eliminate behind the net play, but the lost time from having to skate back while everyone tags up would be lost. Much more actual action.I wish they did play the games all on the big ice....not much good these days with bigger and faster guys and no room to make plays......even Fox/Lindgren would be good on the big ice with Fox maneuvers ....his wrister to the net might lack some punch....maybe one hoppers with some practice and Kreider deflecting .....double up his assists quickly .
The big ice helps the skill guys no question . Owners are too greedy on them front row seats . Take them out . So many games are just pathetic to watch these days and 5 on 5 not much fun to watch . I doubt we ever see it happen until the NHL expands globally .The 90s game was great for the small ice. Go Finland.....time for Barkov to shine . Finns are always a pesky club it seems . I think it will be chippy and maybe the Tkachuk boys overdue it which could cost them .
I'd be interested in a hybrid rink, 92 feet wide like some of the Finnish league. Would open things up without the game turning into lacrosse like it is in some of the wider rinks.
The Saturday day games are legit rivalry games, so I’m curious to see how intense they get.Didnt watch the entire game but caught parts of the 1st, 3rd and OT felt it was a good start to the tournament. Some exciting sequences and a good level of play.
I expect things to ratchet up in the 2nd and 3rd games for each country.
Another healthy scratch for kakko, this time in the 4 nations. Rangers player development spanning different teams and countries to spoil things once again for our boy.
Vaak is on the 2nd pair. You know he'll blame the organization with the Finnish media.
Is Vaak playing?
