Goalie recovery time is always longer than a skater, so 6-8 weeks is my guess, especially if this is the same ankle he injured last year.
Not to be negative, but my ankle’s never been the same after a nasty high ankle sprain. Of course I’m old and not a professional athlete……….

Likely also didn't have a team of specialists with the latest equipment and treatments at your disposal daily.

I wonder if this is the same ankle he injured last year.

How do we all feel about giving Hildeby some games?

If anything, the Leafs have quite a few intriguing goalie prospects. Woll was one of them only last year and we found out the kid can f***ing play

6’7 220 lbs, 1.89 GAA .925 sv% in the AHL
Well I have some bad news about Hildeby: rebound control is fleeting at the moment...

I get pain in my right foot frequently ... from a influenced toe stub in 1986.

I'm curious if the time will be any different for a keeper?

Takes time and strengthening. Took me a year plus to get back to full strength after I had a high ankle sprain (and broken fibula).

Then again I wasn’t very diligent with my physio or the exercises I was given. That makes a big difference

So he'll be back just before Ohtani's 1st pitch in Dunedin then? :sarcasm:

This brings back bad memory.
I recall Reimer getting really hot for a stretch over a decade ago raising our hopes that we may finally have a second coming of Cujo. Then he got hurt in Montreal & was never the same after.

We're cursed I tell ya, CURSED 😨

Good news .. never had one of those .. but sounds like 4 to 6 weeks for a tender to recover and then get back to game shape .. glad to hear it was not a tear

Actually, contract structures are often pretty known to the world. Have you never been on CapFriendly.

This story is actually true.

Jones had a clause in his contract that it he was on an NHL roster on the day the season started he would get a $100K bonus.

This meant that the Lead could send him down and avoid the bonus. However, in order to send him down he had to go on waivers. Any team that selected him on waivers could only do so if they put him on their NHL roster to start the season. This would make his $875K contract, $975K.

This might only seem like $100K, but it is over 10% of the value of the contract and anyone considering claiming Jones on the eve of the season would likely be pretty tight up to the cap. That $100K could make a difference.

Making him less attractive for waivers is really the only reason I can see for this pretty unique bonus clause.

Martin Jones was given a 100k Signing Bonus the day after the waiver period was over, but that wasn't an extra 100k on his contract as a performance bonus. and you can see this on Capfriendly. his base salary is 775k with 100k signing bonus. if his base salary was 875k and no signing bonus for example if someone claimed him they would owe him the same amount.

so to me that really wouldn't have deterred other teams from taking him. he was getting 875k regardless, just that if they had paid the signing bonus the day he signed other teams would have saved 100k. he didn't just become a 975k player, he was still 875k.

if this was honestly such a deterrent why would Jones sign this if he wanted a spot in the NHL?

Let him cook down there.

Between him and Woll I think we’ll be set for our goalies in the future.

You are correct. Thanks and sorry about that. The article I read has a confusing way of explaining the numbers.

I wondered why Jones would sign this also. My guess is that it was late in the off-season and he couldn't be too picky.

Is the season over or not?
Over? lol, we are in good shape, 4 points behind Panthers for 2nd in our division but we have 3 games in hand. Going by points %, which is the end all be all we are currently 3rd,
Boston .750
Panthers 654
Leafs 652
Detroit 640
Tampa 518

We have just 1 more loss than Boston, had we won that last meeting we’d be tied in the loss column. 3/4 of the season to go.
