And yet somehow they managed to get three out of four points against the two best teams in the Metro, literally, 3 outta 4.
yeah i've been pleasantly surprised that the goaltending hasnt cratered since Woll's injury.

With Woll they would have beaten Isles too a shame. Sorokin was good, better than Sammy basically the difference.

no one can complain about Samsonov/Jones tandem thus far, I thought they would be much worse, hopefully they can hold the fort until Woll’s return? Maybe then we’ll see who of the two should stay with the big club……….

Barring injury, there is no rational choice to be made between Samsonov and Jones. The latter will be back in the AHL. The hand-wringing over Samsonov is akin to the way people were moaning over Matthews. Give the guy some games and he will be back in .915 form.

I wasn't as concerned about Jones as much as some.

He wasn't horrible in Seattle.

He's a veteran NHLer playing on a team with firepower. He at least has some established history and has played over 400 games. He's usually over .900.

Jones is probably better than Samsonov and less of a risk overall.

I have to agree, Jones is more trustworthy, last night was how I see games going with Samsonov in net, he’s got the goaltender yips, when his head ain’t right he’s bad……….

If Jones can give the leafs just about .900sv% goaltending then theyre cruising.

Samsonov just looks like a repeat of Campbell.

Said today:

Joseph Woll is not close to returning from a high ankle sprain, an injury he suffered in Ottawa against the Senators on Dec. 7.

He is probably gone for the season. A couple more months at the very least. That explains why they tried to kick-start Samsonov so hard.

We’ve been touch and go on talking about the severity of Wolls injuring.

I think it’s a lingering one, they want no part in rushing - especially considering the maple leafs (team D) are great at ensuring netminders over extend themself.

As usual, your hot takes are more hyperbole than reality.

With the impressive play of Woll and what I've read as him having injuries in the past, my educated guess is that they will take their time with his return.

Looks like right now it's Jones as the "starter" and Hildeby backing.

I don't expect Samsonov to return to form (if he can) before Woll returns.

I'm thinking a goalie acquisition is cooking..

Does Woll make it back by February? or is he out til near end of season? Thanks gents for update .. i am on a siesta down south

Any chance Matt Murray can come off LTIR? lol.

Thank god for jones posting solid numbers or we would be all the way up shit creek
