I'd do 4 years, $80 million for Semien and gun to my head I'd add a 5th year as well. Seems fair for both sides if he is enjoying being a Blue Jay. He may be loyal to the team that paid him when no one else would go that high this year.

Montoyo might have lost the room. May or may not be his fault but if he doesn’t win 8 of the 11, he should be fired.

If guys are in a good mood during a losing streak like this that’s problem enough

There's a fine line between "good mood" and "staying positive", and I'm concerned Montoyo is describing the former.

I like that Jays players can still laugh and have confidence in themselves and shake things off and move on the next game... I don't think being depressed is helpful at all. But I want them to be pissed off, too.

Let's say hypothetically you manage a baseball team and your managerial style is widely loathed by your own fanbase.

Now, tbf to you, your entire bullpen is ravaged with injuries.

Do you

A) Try your best to keep the media at bay and double down on the fact that the bullpen is currently a war hospital

or

B) Antagonize the fanbase with some dumb shirt about how everything is fine, when everything is clearly not fine.

If the season continues to go off the rails I think you have to shop Semien, Matz and Ray. 2 of those 3 could get you ridiculous offers, and even with Matz, a reliable LH starter is always going to get more than you think.

I'll be honest, if I were in that situation I wouldn't give a shit what the fans think and would do whatever I felt would improve morale on the team and get them back on track.

2 more weeks of bad play and we need to go sell mode.

I think the big boys go off tomorrow and get this going in the right direction. Top 4 in the order went 0-16 tonight, think they'll explode this weekend.

1. Anthony Kay was getting hammered in AAA….why him?
2. What did Zach Logue do to become this version on himself?
3. Same question for Samad Taylor.
4. Same question for Kevin Smith.

i will admit i do wish the jays were in the sox drafting slot. grabbing leiter would have been a coupe for this club. should have used 2 years of season stats to pick draft position like they were talking about. instead we get boston who had a bad start last year and is top 5/6 in all baseball this year. but it is what it is

Random non-jays question:

Why was there someone wearing an Astros jersey in the sox dugout?

Ball boys normally dont travel with the team. Sometimes the home team would supply the visiting team with a ball boy who is wearing the home team's colors. This is a normal practice, but i will say the guy in the picture is a little big for a ball boy so it could be something else. Medical staff?
