He was waiver fodder at the beginning of the year and no one took him. Now like you said he might have some value again and be part of a package or make the Jays comfortable enough to have up in some capacity to move one of the other two

i thought he was but figured he might have been sent down. thanks for clearing that up

Problem with Reese is he doesnt have options and Montoyo says he isnt running with 3 catchers.

If one of Reese or Jansen are hurt, then your 3rd catcher is Kirk. If you lose Reese to waivers and one of Kirk or Jansen get hurt, your 3rd catcher is Adams. With the deadline in 28 days, its best to give Kirk all the reps in AAA to work on his conditioning a defense. Ride the hot hand and hope McGuire keeps his trade value where you can use him in a trade.

Going back to Miami makes so much sense. Their backup catchers have been bad and they have 1 catcher in their top 30 and he ranks 27th and is in A ball. Anthony Bender would be a great arm to get back, rookie with control and averages 98 mph but that is wishful thinking. Maybe Reese could get us Ross Detwiler or John Curtis.

Another team could be Seattle. They have catchers and one on the way but maybe Reese could get us Graveman?

at least he has value now. reese had pretty much none since last offseason and the incident . he could have been waiver fodder. now worst/best case he's a piece of a package or playing for us in some capacity but he has shown he can be a serviceable mlb catcher. .

Hey people, just checking in because I'm watching the jays play Tampa and I was reminded that they got rid of their radio crew, so I'm curious what the radio experience has been like? I'm pretty sure no one liked that decision, but has it been better than expected? Right now I'm watching trying to imagine if I'd feel well informed without the TV picture and I'm not so sure.
Thanks in advance and good luck to your Jays :)

From my experience, it started okay with Dan and Pat/Buck, but even then it wasn’t close to what a full-time radio broadcast would be. Lately, I find it’s gotten worse even with Dan doing PBP, but I am honestly perfectly okay with that. I don’t want to it to be good enough that this becomes a possible option beyond this season.

With Buck and Pat though, it’s a complete nightmare. Don’t expect to ever know the score, count, or maybe even the inning. You can often hear the play happening in the background while Buck rants about the one knee catching stance or bringing up George Brett for no apparent reason, with no update being given on what happened on the field.

Spot on. I get the impression Dan tries, but it's hard, both because... well... it's just hard... and because of his co-announcers. Buck and Pat don't seem to have a clue they're on the radio.

I like that plan but if we aren't getting a stud young arm back for someone like McGuire I'm perfectly happy to just keep him but for a Bender type arm I'd do it.

Interesting. I'm not sure I buy into any causal reason for the ban to lead to better ERAs for teams (instead believing that the timing of the improvement is coincidental and just part of the usual ebb and flow of rotations throughout a season) but there is certainly a logical train of thought to seeing teams' output plummet (although it could still also just be random coincidence.)

Somewhat of a small sample size because competition is also a factor. Would be interesting to see the drop in spin rates among the teams.

Would be huge for the Jays if the Rays and Yankees continue those numbers.

Somewhere I thought I saw a really early return suggesting that the Jays were one of the few teams that saw no appreciable decrease in team spin rates after the ban (or perhaps even a slight increase, even if that doesn't make much sense?)

How much of the Yankees' ERA jump is due solely to Gerrit Cole? lol. That might not be a coincidence...
