I think it's because the Rays have a ton of lefty batters.

Axford pitched in Buffalo tonight. No hits and walks and 1 SO.
It's because our BP has been overused the last 2 days. Kay threw 54 pitches the other day, he won't be available until maybe tomorrow. Thornton threw 36 that game, I don't think we ant to use him unless necessary tonight. Murphy was likely sent down because he pitched in back to back games and they needed a fresh arm in Castro.

Did Payamps punch Atkins in the face or something? How did Allgeyer get the call over him? Why was he sent down in the first place? How many degrees from Kevin Bacon is he?

Payamps has a minor back thing that he can pitch through but they've said they don't want to use him if they don't have too.

Kirk HR for Buffalo. Jansen 1 for 4 in the first game of the double headr. Smith went 2 for 3.

Him and Castro got sent down a couple days ago. You have to wait 10 days to be recalled unless there's an injury. Castro came back since Chatwood went on the IL but the other move was a regular option(Murphy) so they couldn't recall both Castro and Payamps, only 1 as there was only 1 giuy IL'd.

Essentially they picked Castro over Payamps for recall, and then Allgeyer over everyone else.

I'm sure it was discussed already, but Dasan Brown was added to the Dunedin roster. Playing CF and batting leadoff... Not a lot to show for his first few games, but he's 3-3 with a triple tonight.

Intriguing tools, good too see him get promoted so we have a better idea how he's progressing.

Let's say somehow we get to the wildcard game and all of Ryu, Ray, and Manoah are on full rest. Who would you want to take the bump?

Idk if this is a flaming hot take or a super cold take but... Ryu might be my third choice.

Ray all the way. Guy was dominant last year in his appearance against the Rays in the playoffs.

Depends on how all of them are performing at the time. If it was right now I would go with Ray even though he is prone to the longball.

Right now Ray, particularly since you can have him go full tilt for 5 innings or so to get the most out of him.

But its a long season and Ryu is a heck of a pitcher. Good chance he finds it again.

Montoyo: It’s Chatwood.

I see the man in white is finally getting his due:

I consider any win against the Rays a "stolen" game. A few more and it will make up for all the other lost games.

I just can't see how they can justify leaving him down there if he's healthy.

If Reese's BABIP dries up, we're right back to where we started with a black hole in the 9 spot. It's not fair to the team, especially when you're clawing for every win just to get the 2nd wildcard.

EDIT: Before I get quoted, I am aware that Kirk still needs to finish his rehab but from what has been reported it looks like they'll keep him down there even when he's fully ready.

I think they want Kirk to get more playing time and to improve his defense.

Yeah, I doubt McGuire keeps it up much longer, but for now he deserves a lot of playing time. He's earned it. Kirk needs to start as often as possible for now, and it probably won't be long before he's back up anyway.

at least he has value now. reese had pretty much none since last offseason and the incident . he could have been waiver fodder. now worst/best case he's a piece of a package or playing for us in some capacity but he has shown he can be a serviceable mlb catcher. .

He was waiver fodder at the beginning of the year and no one took him. Now like you said he might have some value again and be part of a package or make the Jays comfortable enough to have up in some capacity to move one of the other two
