He only got it because Trout and Buxton are injured

(Trout is a starter though)

It's criminal that Mullins didn't get a spot while leading AL outfielders in fWAR by almost a full win and in wRC+.

Not that Teo didn't deserve to be a starter, but he's been around a top-10 guy, not one of the 3 best this season. I voted for him throughout (and Trout/Mullins) though so I can't say much.

this tweet bothers me to no end, does this guy forget that the Jays fanbase is nationwide and they haven't had an actual home game in almost 2 years? If he could point to the team being top 3 in attendance year in and year out, then he'd have a valid point.

My understanding has always been that attendance is a relatively small portion of income for teams.

(Not that I disagree with your point. When you turn a great moment for Teoscar into an anti-Rogers stance, I think you've kind of lost the plot.)

Couldn’t agree more

What happened to Chatwood? He was almost lights out at the beginning of the season. How can things go so bad so quickly?

His struggles coincide perfectly with the warnings that a crackdown on foreign substances was coming, so I'd be shocked if he wasn't using something to help with his grip.

Jon Harris is having a decent season out the pen in New Hampshire this year. ERA of 2.63 and a whip below 1. I know we've mostly forgot about him and for good reason but I'm intrigued to see him in camp next year. Might have a chance to break as the 8th reliever.

The main asterisk to this is that he's a couple months away from his 28th birthday.

edit: huh, I guess he beat out Buxton to get in on his own, wow

He is low-key having a pretty great season this year after a great season last year.

For 2020 he was 8th among qualified AL outfielders in fWAR. This year he's 16th, but a lot of the guys ahead of him are lesser knowns or not big stars (Cedric Mullins, Canha and Laureano from Oakland, the Houston OF trio, which includes Myles Straw getting almost all his value from his defence, Mitch Haniger, Adolis Garcia). They aren't likely to get a ton of votes. Even a guy like Buxton, who's really good, is from Minnesota and that hurts his exposure.

That said, Teoscar is 7th in wRC+ and 6th in RBIs and OPS. He's having a great year. Mullins probably should've been voted in ahead of him, but I have no problem with him getting the vote because he does deserve to be in the conversation.

Now if it was Grichuk, then we'd have a problem.

2021 MLB Mock Draft: High school shortstops, Vanderbilt arms among the top prospects
19. Blue Jays — Sam Bachman, RHP, Miami (Ohio)

Bachman’s slide down the board stops here. The Blue Jays have found success with hard-throwing college arms in the past like Nate Pearson and Alec Manoah, and they’ll jump on Bachman if he’s available in this spot. The Miami (Ohio) product already hits triple-digits and has one of the hardest fastballs in the draft. On top of that, he offers a wipeout slider and above-average changeup to give him a well-rounded repertoire.
Bachman’s mostly two-pitch arsenal is loud. He opened the 2021 season for Miami (Ohio) sitting 95-96 mph with his fastball, touching 100 mph at times, and paired it with a hard slider mostly in the 86-88 mph range that touched 90. Bachman overwhelmed Mid-American Conference hitters, striking out 93 batters in 59.2 innings while holding opponents to a .147 average and just seven extra-base hits.

Did Payamps punch Atkins in the face or something? How did Allgeyer get the call over him? Why was he sent down in the first place? How many degrees from Kevin Bacon is he?

Isn't Allgeyer a lefty? And Allgeyer has been starting some game so he can give multiple innings
