I'm in absolute shambles. I had 20 Vladdys and offloaded them because I figured he wouldn't go from low gold to straight up diamond

Kris Bryant was the pick for a lot of people. In the midst of an MVP caliber start with his hitting and defense retuning to form...gets no upgrade and actually loses a bit of power against righties

Lance Lynn, off to a start that looks like that of a Cy Young winner: nothing

Ditto for Corbin Burnes. Sitting an 84, still pitching well...nothing

Vladdy, admittedly with a monster start: strap a rocket to him stonks go up baybay.

Shit makes no sense. It's not that Vlad isn't deserving by any means. It's just that his overall took an absolutely massive jump on comparison to guys who have been dominating and somehow got nothing. Watch Marcus Semien get nothing (though you have to figure he's probably a player of the month)

Vladdy is also helped by being moved from third base to first in this roster update. It probably added a point or 2 to his overall.

Blue Jays investigating new allegations against Roberto Alomar | The Star

Melissa Verge shares her story: All I wanted was baseball advice. Instead, Roberto Alomar pushed his unwelcome body up against mine. Why I’m speaking out now

The Blue Jays have launched an internal investigation of Roberto Alomar and its own operation over new allegations that have come to light in the aftermath of the player being permanently banned by Major League Baseball last month.

Alomar, a key figure in the Blue Jays’ World Series-winning teams of the early 1990s, had been one of the franchise’s most prominent ambassadors until he was banned by MLB and stripped of his affiliation with the club on April 30 following an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations from 2014.

The latest allegations also date back to 2014, but they involve a different woman — an 18-year-old volunteer at a kids’ baseball camp run by the Jays. She says Alomar, who was then 46, propositioned her for sex and, after offering her a private clubhouse tour, pressed his body against hers without her consent.

Melissa Verge, now 24, says she told a team official about the incidents soon after they happened. There is no evidence the official, Rob Jack, who was also a personal friend of Alomar’s, ever told anyone else within the organization.

Verge, who now lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, had considered publicly sharing what she says Alomar did to her back in 2014, but decided against it. Now that another woman has come forward, she says, “it has opened the door for me to be able to share my story.”

In a statement, the Blue Jays say they were “troubled to learn about Ms. Verge’s experience in 2014 involving Roberto Alomar and another former employee. Since we were made aware of the incident by the Toronto Star, we have commenced an internal investigation using an outside firm.”

The Jays say they will continue to investigate allegations brought forward to them and “where appropriate, hold people accountable for their actions.”

The Star sent Alomar and Jack detailed questions for this story more than a week before publication. They did not respond.

The complainant in MLB’s investigation of Alomar — identified only as a “baseball industry employee” — declined to comment for this story through her lawyer, Lisa Banks.

To be fair Vlad isn’t just dominating like those guys, he’s the best in the league.

I’ve been mostly without any service last two days, I see Hatch hasn’t pitched since his first outing with Buffalo on the 21st. Any word what’s going on?

Twelve year old Enmanuel Beltre, the younger brother of Manuel Beltre (Blue Jays top international signing from this year) is also a top prospect for 2024.

He's seen in this video, wearing a Blue Jays practice cap. Could this be an indicator we're in on him?

FWIW that was how we identified his older brother as a Jays signee over a year in advance. However, in his brother's case there wasn't really an alternative explanation, whereas the younger Beltre could just be wearing his brother's hat or supporting his brother's team.

Beautiful swing and surprising power for his size.

I kind of hope there's no real reason he's wearing the Jays cap other than maybe because his brother is a Jays prospect. Because it'd honestly be kind of disgusting if MLB teams are out there hustling kids for their International FA pool signings while they're only twelve.

Hasnt there been a couple scandals about teams promising kids and grooming them to sign just to leave them high and dry after they struggle and find higher valued ifa signings

I don't know specifically, but it wouldn't surprise me if there is.

Signing IFAs at 16 is already kinda a little bit uncomfortable, but the very idea of potentially putting them into the scouting meat grinder when they're barely hitting puberty is all kinds of skeezy.

Manuel Beltre was wearing Jays stuff on Instagram as early as 13. But after that picture he wore Yankees, Mets, White Sox and Nats gear. When he turned 14 he started wearing Jays gear consistently, wearing a Rays shirt once but after that, it was all Jays gear.

Im sure the Jays have the inside edge on Beltre’s brother but nothing really gets “unofficially” finalized until they turn 14 or 15 which is when those deals leak.

This has been happening forever. When these players sign they already have close relationships with teams or the teams have close relationships with their trainers.

MLB: Handshake deals with underage prospects draw interest from feds
Some agreements are made when the prospects are as young as 12 and reach as far into the future as the 2023 signing period. The rules, in part a stand-in for the inability of MLB to come to an agreement with its players’ union on implementing an international draft, have been abused by teams and their scouts for years, according to Santin and others.

Professional soccer academies start their youth development in U9's and they establish "pre-academies" even younger than that. These organizations don't care so long as they find the next great talent.

I love the music being played after each home run.

And the little skip and stutter as he rounds each base. He’s a natural. Amazing.

Why? The soccer leagues have their academies already.

Doesn't make it any less weird. 12 year old kids should be worried about school, not the long shot of a professional sporting career from a team trying to strike lightning in a bottle to exploit for pennies on the dollar.

Honestly, I haven't been paying attention but I was stunned Tatis got a +3. Been playing a lot recently. I want that Story badly.
