Wait, is this the same Cory people were ****ting on last night?

So because Cory crapped the bed last night, we should go with the backup who gives the Devils even less of a shot at winning, right?

Cory would've bounced back, imo...or at least kept out 2 of the goals scored so the Devils could at least salvage one friggin point....

He's our Starter and bad-performance-last-night-or-not, he needs to be thrown out there on a back to back during a PLAYOFF RACE.

PERIOD.

He would have had to keep out THREE of the goals scored and all of the ones Keith saved to salvage a point. I didn't agree with not playing Cory either (thought KK should have played Tuesday if anything) but it had nothing to do with the result tonight. So they maybe lose 3-2 or 4-2 instead of 5-2, big deal.

Well...the team is soft.

Edit: yelling and hard practices isn't going to change that though.

Team isn't physical, but they can play a lot harder than this. Hischier's line is usually a lot better at being sneaky and aggressive creating turnovers etc.

Too many times they were weak in one-on-one battles, clearing the puck, using their body to shield the puck, etc.

Get ready for a 3 game losing streak. They're gonna get worked by the Kings.

Hate to be pessimistic but I can just look at this game and say "Might as well pencil in another loss upcoming" here.

Hope they pull a proverbial rabbit out of their butt, though and find a way to get at least a point in that game.....but I'm not holding my breath.

time for Shero to call out the team again

They need something to light a fire quick here because with the exception of the away game vs. CBJ they're looking a LOT more like the lax team from December 2016 than the team we saw during October 2017.

Yes they're still missing Palmieri and Zajac hasn't been the same since the injury, but pinning the struggle on these factors is merely rationalizing the team's emerging propensity for rolling over and playing dead.

Greene cratering at an alarming rate and suspect goaltending are just adding to the malaise out on the ice. They've been bad at home this year and now have a ton of home games coming this month. It's time to decide whether or not they're going to kill the season off in December like last year.

Goalies tend to be worse on the back end of back-to-backs. Besides, I don't think riding Cory like he's Marty would be much better.

Noooooo........ it's becuase Butcher was really poor tonight, other than that brilliant pass he had that led to a goal.

It was an obvious trade. The Devils were 1 starting D injury away from losing by 4 goals every night. You said yourself at the start of the season the Devils desperately need to trade for a defenseman who can play minutes. Vatanen is that guy.

Vatanen is not a number one defender but with a good partner he could be part of at least a serviceable top pair once he gets completely past his injury.

I say call someone up from Bingo. Can't be any worse than what we are icing right now that has gotten blown out in their last 4 out of three games.

Keeping the game close would change the way the Devils players play....maybe they show that extra effort and someone actually TIES THE GAME or something?

We'll never really know now because the bald dork is treating this season as a rebuilding season with his moves as far as the Goaltender situation. Of course technically it IS a rebuilding season but dammit....we're in a playoff race. Can't he at least PRETEND to act like he's in one?

Greene cratering at an alarming rate

This is starting to scare me.

Poor Andy Greene has been a #3/#4 guy forced to play #1/#2 almost his entire career, but right now he looks like a #5/#6 guy being asked to play 22 minutes. :scared:

Tired Cory is probably better than what Kinkaid has been this year (which is awful).

I don’t think it changes the result of this game. Still it is the thought process of the decision. Even if Cory played and gave up 5 I would be more comfortable with the decision than tonight’s decision.

When did they start playing lacrosse? Sorry wanted to lighten the mood after a poor game.

Vatanen is a solid #3/#4 guy with a breakout pass, which is exactly what this team needed.

If Cory started again and gave up 5 I guarantee you people would be blasting Hynes for starting him.

Because throwing Kinky out there who is(and has always been) AVERAGE at best(below average more often than not) is the better alternative?

That 3-1 turnover by Severson was horrific. The defense overall was really bad - the 2-0 goal we had 4 guys in the corner covering 2 Rangers and still let them pass to the open guy in the slot.

Zacha had a good game. Real nice pass to set Wood up.

Absolutely Zacha's best game in weeks. That's a positive. We may have found a line there with he and Wood. And yes,
that Severson turn over was a critical mistake. Game changing.

I think we need to go back to playing a system. Simplify things and stop running around. (Yet that tends to happen when you are playing from behind continually). Hynes job is to instill confidence and enforce a certain style of play. We looked disorganized too much tonight. That's a coaching failure on his part as much as it is a failure to execute on the part of the team.

He should stay calmer. With these kids, get back to basics and move on. Channel Jacques Lemaire.
