I can't believe we're killing Kinkaid here. I just... I cannot believe it.

No Kidding! Kinkaid should sue for non-support .. Rags could have put up 10 tonight ... awful, awful defense in front of Kinky tonight. I don't want to overreact, but we are still light years away from having a good NHL defense.

I say call someone up from Bingo. Can't be any worse than what we are icing right now that has gotten blown out in their last 4 out of three games.

This may shock some people, but I actually agree.

Call up a forward just to scare the **** out of people, maybe a Lappin. Demote Zajac down a line. Bench Stafford (beyond tonight). Given Zacha TWO more games or pack his bags to Binghamton.

It's time for a, "it's better to be feared than loved", John Hynes IMO.

Absolutely Zacha's best game in weeks. That's a positive. We may have found a line there with he and Wood. And yes,
that Severson turn over was a critical mistake. Game changing.

I think we need to go back to playing a system. Simplify things and stop running around. (Yet that tends to happen when you are playing from behind continually). Hynes job is to instill confidence and enforce a certain style of play. We looked disorganized too much tonight. That's a coaching failure on his part as much as it is a failure to execute on the part of the team.

He should stay calmer. With these kids, get back to basics and move on. Channel Jacques Lemaire.

Zacha played pretty well, but I think he blew two great scoring opportunities tonight if I recall correctly.

Tired Cory is probably better than what Kinkaid has been this year (which is awful).

I don’t think it changes the result of this game. Still it is the thought process of the decision. Even if Cory played and gave up 5 I would be more comfortable with the decision than tonight’s decision.

That's right. If we lost with Cory, so be it. At least we went in with our Starting Goaltender to begin with. I would still have been upset at the loss but not at the level as I am right now(moreso with my ire directed at the bald dork)

Vatanen is a solid #3/#4 guy with a breakout pass, which is exactly what this team needed.

Sure and with a complementary partner he’d be handling the big minutes the team needs handled. I am not critical of the trade. It just coincided with Greene getting old. That’s on Greene not Vats.

If Cory started again and gave up 5 I guarantee you people would be blasting Hynes for starting him.

At the risk of sounding PC I actually agree with both these posts lol

Yeah .. Green is not good these days. Devils desperately need a true #1 or #2 defenseman. I don't see how they can get much better until they drastically improve that D. Vats is a step in the right direction, but we need a true stud.

No. We should start Cory in the games that are Divisional games. 4-point games that can determine whether we make the postseason or not.

We can still play Kinkaid against Non-Divisional opponents....

I was fine with giving Kinkaid this game. It's December, not February, and Kinkaid played well against the Rangers earlier in the season.

Pretty much the same story as last night. Unforced mental errors. Soft play for too long a time and a pop gun Power Play.

Really annoying but it is correctable. They have a few days here to get back to the drawing board and sort this out.

See what they do on Tuesday.

Kinkaid wasn’t the issue tonight same as Cory wasn’t the issue last night.

Hideous turnovers and breakdowns leading to glorious chances in close and in front was the issue.

I would've been fine with Cory starting again tonight with Kinky facing the Kings(where no matter who plays, Devils have no shot) next week.

Anyway, the goal next week is 4 points out of 6(ie. win at Montreal and win at home against Dallas)

It is a team we are going to fighting with for a playoff spot and only play 4 Times (only once after December).

You have to be able to recognize the landscape you are in and are likely to be in and be able to adjust from a normal plan based on situation. Certainly the Rangers in the same situation as us (back to back division games) and saw how this weekend could be pivotal. This why they played Lindqvist twice

It honestly isn’t the worst idea if for nothing else but to shake things up. Young guys coming in hungry has been a boon for us all year.

I do agree Zacha earned some rope because of his third period, but he needs to keep it up.

Why are you just punting the Kings game? That is much more foolish then anything the staff did tonight.

I'm mentally preparing myself for a loss and not getting any points.

That way, IF the Devils find a way to get at least ONE point in that game, I would be PLEASANTLY SHOCKED.
