Thanks for that Fonz, lol no pressure putting me in with the 'Professor' as the young russians called Igor but I will take that. I grew up in that era watching the Soviet teams play some amazing hockey, the KLM line in particular and the 5 man units. I did mention once before I had an interesting meeting with Vladdy Krutov 'old donut boy'. That learning method goes back to Anatoli Tarasov the architect of that style, with Bobrov. They learned from Czech coaches and the Lloyd Percival's book 'The Hockey Handbook', got a copy somewhere.
You can see it still in guys like Pastrnak, when he would rather hang on to it or try things, the pure joy of stickhandling and I am going beat you. Bobby Orr said it many times he learned on the lakes of Parry Sound which I was lucky to visit a few years ago. There he skated forever and they cherished possession of the puck and trying things without be yelled at. I dunno, I like both styles being a Bruin fan, the rough stuff and the skill but creativity will turn a game in a second. My favourite Bruin was 'Nifty Rick' , then Orr
