How is Dom not a lock? He won OHL top goalie, the WHL top goalie graduated, and so far he has been on fire. I can see Barlow making the team. He has captain qualities and is a sniper.
I never know about goalies and how coaches assess them, so that's why I don't call DD a "lock". But he certainly seems to be the leading G candidate.

Remember how people thought Heinola was a lock for the opening night roster? Shit happens. There are no locks.

Kyle Connor should have been a lock, he was one of the best players in the NCAA. The guys who choose these teams, at the end of the day, are as biased as anyone else around here. They pick "their guys" above others at the fringe, sometimes higher up making themselves look like fools.

No doubt he should be the 1A or 1B option at worst.

Levis had a short-handed assist last night.

DiVincentiis with a surprising 2 goals against going into the 3rd period.

Salomonsson played his first game of the year for Skelleftea, no points but 3-0 win.

EDIT: DiVincentiis finishes with 28 saves on 31 shots, down to .944sv% through 5 games.

Last year’s Team Canada is a good example. They stayed away from high-producing, smaller, skilled forwards and went with bigger guys who play a heavier game.

Crudola. I thought Salmon was playing with the Moose this year?

It was an option, they opted to send him back.

No, he was one of the best scorers. I'm sure Team USA saw the same weaknesses that all the teams ahead of us saw (Boston notably 3 times). He's a one trick pony that can't defend to save his life. If I had any Photoshop skills, I would put KFC at the end of a fishing line with A Fish Called Chevy swimming up eagerly to bite. I spend all my time ragging on Scheifele simply because he is so much more of an inviting target for lots of reasons. Had we traded him as I had hoped, I would certainly have turned my undivided attention on Connor this season.

Wowza.

Yeah it's really too bad that Boston had scouts who saw the true Kyle Connor, and sniped Senyshyn right out from under us. Imagine the Jets lineup with a guy like that playing on the first line!

To be clear, this is what I meant by "wowza". You can dislike Connor all you want, but if you think that Boston today with the power of hindsight thinks that they made the right choice on any of those 3 picks, or that team USA was happy with bronze while leaving Connor on the table, it's an out to lunch take.

Isn't that that guys schtick? That is he is out to lunch because if it isn't WOWZA lol

I did not mean to imply Boston made 3 good picks. But in hindsight, they should have taken Debrusk, Barzal and Chabot.

As for Team USA, there is simply no way to know whether Connor would have made them better, worse or the same.

Good to see that your complete disinterest in the Jets after the Hellebuyck and Scheifele signings haven't stopped you from sharing your consistently shitty hot takes.

Do you honestly believe that Boston wouldn't trade Debrusk for Connor today, or choose Connor in hindsight? I'll tell you exactly why they would, because even if they didn't like Connor, they'd be able to trade him for Debrusk plus 2 1sts today. Even if you don't like Connor his value today is much, much more than Debrusk's.

I really like Debrusk. He has skill and a high motor. I would instantly trade 2 of him for Connor without a second thought.

Lets rub some more salt in Bruins fans wounds for that draft. All they had to do was take the next 3 guys after their picks, Barzal, Connor and Chabot. Dynasty

That was a crazy strong draft class, at least for the top half of the 1st rd. You wouldn't normally expect picks 13-15 to be as good as those 3 guys.

Kyle Connor is one of the best goal scorers on the planet. Only the most important skill in hockey. His timing and vision are impeccable and he's an outstanding skater. He has consistently been our best and most valuable forward for several years.

McGroarty with a goal now as well
Drops to only having 8 points on the team's 15 goals through 3 games.
