Soooo .... the James Wright of Dmen?
I hope it works out better for him than that. We could use a skilled 2 way RHD coming out of the 4th rd.
I think the the point is more that Brown has a ton of offensive skill, but vagaries of shooting % limited his production.

Wright had no offensive talent, just speed and effort, but no hands and no offensive skill.

Agreed. I thought the ranking was fair. We have a good but not great prospect pool and lack that top tier level prospect(s).

Yea I am fine with the ranking. We have been doing better drafting since Pefetti but as I have been stating for a while we need two or three draft picks in a row that are better than anyone currently in our system and at key positions or we aren’t contending in the era of this current crop of draft picks like we did in the Scheifele/Trouba era. We are drafting too late and currently getting mostly nice complimentary pieces. Our prospect pool lacks high end pedigree and there is only one way to aquire that In Winnipeg IMO (Not advocating tanking because thats never happening but some top 10 draft picks and a splash of good luck is much needed).

That was a joke.

I think the Jets have a few prospects with big questions, and the overall strength of their prospect pool will depend on how they pan out.

Lucius could be a high end forward, but his injuries make it hard to predict his trajectory. He seems like a real boom or bust. I'm optimistic, but there's a lot of risk there.

Similarly, Rashevsky and Chibrikov have high talent, but it's harder to predict their NHL potential coming from Russia.

I think Pronman missed the boat on Salomonsson. An 18 year old D isn't going to be flashy in the SHL, but I think he's higher end than Pronman thinks.

Finally, I think everyone is uncertain about Lambert's potential. He has a very high skill level, and showed well in the WHL. I think Pronman and others put too much emphasis on the WJC experience with the Finns. I think he had a very short leash with the coaches and was harshly assessed, there.

The actual number isn't as important to me as the range, since in reality it is pretty subjective with teams with similar level prospect pools. I think a ranging in the middle 3rd is fair. IMO the biggest Darkhorse for us is Salomonsson. He looks like he really might pop as a player based off last season. And as a big (6.2) smooth skating RHD this would be huge for our prospect pool. Him alone could bring us up close to the top 3rd of the rankings if he develops to his potential.

Salomonsson is a wild card for sure. I think he needs to follow up last season with an even better season before he hits the radar on most prospect lists outside our board. Nice start, I am hopeful, but he has a LONG way to go.

One thing that occurs to me regarding the Jets' prospects is that the Jets have fallen off in terms of finishing, which earlier had been a real strength. Below, you can see that in the last couple of years the Jets have been poor finishers overall (deficit of goals vs. expected goals).

Thinking about the Jets' prospects, it's good that a few appear to be good finishers, particularly from high-danger areas: Barlow, McGroarty, Lucius in particular.

Among Jets' forwards, only Scheifele generated a high percentage of high-danger chances and finished at a high rate (see below).

Watching Salomonsson's game... He's already very impressive. Very confident and aggressive defensively. Smooth and slick with puck retrieval and movement.

Yup, a potential steal. How's his offensive game looking? Do you think he has enough skill to.be a two-way 40 point type?

Not sure about his offense, yet. He certainly has become more aggressive offensively. He doesn't have high-end puck handling at this point, but he has good instincts and a good shot.

He was very offensively aggressive and also on the powerplay during last year's CHL games as well, it didn't translate to the regular season unfortunately.

Was only able to watch half the game but liked what I saw. He didn't get any points but he played a part in both the goals I was able to see. Looks strong too, didn't get out muscled in board battles.

Wonder if there's any communication left between the Jets and Hugg. Guy always impresses whenever I watch Skelleftea.

Thanks for the updates. Very excited about this player. Definitely helps he plays a position of major need. The time lines line up well with Pionk and Schmidt only having two years left on their deals.

Rashevsky gets the primary assist on his team's only goal in a 2-1 loss in his team's season debut.

Watching Salomonsson's CHL game.

For his role on Skelleftea, Jonathan Pudas has looked like shit.

Salomonsson had a really nice rush right down the middle while on the powerplay in the 3rd. Got right in on the Pardubice goaltender but couldn't get it above the pad.

Agree. Salomonsson was their best D today. Strong everywhere. Coach played him more and more as the game went on, with 2PP role.
